1.) A decent 5MP Camera +, Also with Flash - Nothing annoys me more than being out with friends at night and not being able to take a decent picture.

Get a decent camera, then. There is definitely room for improvement in the iPhone camera but making it N megapixels and adding a crude LED light / flash will not necessarily make it better.

1. Not happening. Megapixels are meaningless. Give it a better sensor.
2. Never happening.
3. Going to happen.
4. Going to happen.
5. No. No. No. Do you have any idea what that would do? Battery. You'd kill battery life to nothing.

1. Agreed.
This is not intended to replace your Canon 5D. Just to get a decent snap shot that will email/upload quickly. Sharing the image is key, not quality. Given good light, I have found the iPhone camera very adequate. That said, yes, a flash would not hurt for lower light scenarios.

2. Agreed.
Never going to happen. Ever. No matter how many current mobile phones offer this, it is dated tech whose EOL is just over the horizon. Move on people. In a matter of months (?), all mobile users will have a more robust experience - able to access personal email and cries for 'MMS!' will cease. Unless the guy crying for the 'Powerbook G5' is also the same guy crying for MMS. ;)

3. Agreed.
Not only is it coming, it is already here via App Store. But it will be bundled with the OS in a future Software Update.

4. Not so sure.
I mean, technically, it's possible. But not sure Apple will support this. I'd much prefer Apple support Disk Mode before BT sharing.

5. Eventually.
This device will get thinner than the current form factor. In time. Not the next update, but eventually.

My prediction is that a major firmware update (such as 2.3) will be released just prior to a 32GB model being released. I doubt Apple will do any major hardware tweaking. And some people are saying something big is going to happen since the 1st gen owners contracts will expire... That could be true or false. I think that the 1st gen introduced to start up Apple's phone concept (and obviously, the could have made it 3G compatible). However, I think 3G is the new standard and it could be a year before they come out with a major upgrade.

And a HD model? Come on now... the resolution is already kickass for a screen that can literally fit in the palm of your hand.

But then again, I'm probably wrong... it's rare that any piece of technology remains the standard for over a year (especially Apple products).

Your list sucks. How about video recording capabilities, a front mounted camera for video chat & a removeable battery. Everything you mentioned I couldn't care less about.

I was going to say the same thing. No use telling apple what you want now, they have their minds made up, and are ready to start making them. Something like the iphone is thought of months in advance as to what they are going to do with it so they can prepare it for production.

You mean they've made them, tests are coming back clean and volume production is beginning. ;)

A Message Indicator Light!

Oh god, please no!! Perhaps notification icons near the Bluetooth symbol so u can see it whatever u are doing.

And a fix for the delete key. Half of this post was juan deleted and had to be retyped bc it kept deleting text even after I let it go.

Then how do you explain the very slick copy/paste implementation I've seen on jailbroken iPhones, both original & 3G?

I can't. But the process *is* intensive. Again apple made a conserted decision to leave it out. They had a reason. I never said it's impossible.

Are there videos of the JB phones copying and pasting?

Love me iphone!

Battery life
MMS ( I have SwirlyMMS. But, it can be a bit tempermental! )
3mpl + with flash ( doesn't need to be a massive sensor, flash is greatly needed tho! not sure how that dinky lil IPhone battery would take it! :/ )

As far as i am concerned, that is all i would want.
Don't think it needs to be thinner, it's that thin compared to my old N95 that sometimes i think i have lost it. then i realise it's actually in my pocket! haha

fedup flyer
I agree and disagree, i have a camera. a very good camera!
But, i find it handy to beable to take a half decent pic whenever!
The only thing the N95 had one up on the IPhone!

How about video recording capabilities, a front mounted camera for video chat

If you want a video recording device, BUY a damn VIDEO CAMERA. Who gives a crap about video chat. That is more wasted bandwidth for a cell PHONE.

1. Battery Life
2. Battery Life
3. Battery Life
4. Battery Life
5. Cut&Paste

video conferencing would be nice, but i would rather them focus on improving the first camera, rather than adding a 2nd crappy camera

I'm hoping for turn-by-turn voice GPS, video capture and MMS. And a full aluminum back like the new MacBooks would be nice, but I don't think they can do that.

So I definately think that a revision if the hardware will come it this June. As for the features, a better camera requires more space, something which the iPhone doesn't have inside. MMS will not happen. It's called email. Send pics.

Expand the space then, the iPhone isn't that big and it feels kinda small in my hands. Get a new camera, because the iPhone camera is old technology ever since it was announced. And now it's dinosaur since all those smartphones with flash and that 12 MP camera smartphone (LG Idou) or something came out.

How about you try sending a picture to someone who has a phone that does not have email capabilities. Ha! Not everyone has smartphones or afford the data plans.

It'd be nice if all they did was bump it up to 16 GB/32 GB and basically just add all the features that you can already get jailbroken (like video recording, more preferences, MMS, etc.) and probably double the RAM to like 256 MB and update processor speed too. I'd be pretty satisfied with that.

At the minimum they are going to at least throw in the processor that the 2nd gen ipod touch has. I own one of them and it's much much better then the processor on the iphone. I would be pleased with just the improved processor, 32gb, and a decent firmware update.

Ummm...what's your source? I doubt they'll be a new iphone for at least 18 months unless it's just a 32GB version of the current 3G....

Right? Please don't assume that you're arbitrarily picking a date means the rest of us following your randomness.

At the minimum they are going to at least throw in the processor that the 2nd gen ipod touch has.

AT LEAST! :D

Ok, and while were on the subject. I know I'll either get a link flung at me or flamed for this but back when the whole "the touch is faster than the iPhone" news was announced, I seem to remember some folks saying that they were two different processors with different VR chips or something like that and others were saying it's the same chip and the iPhone is just underclocked.

Which story is correct?

And if it's just that it's 'underclocked' and the same processor, I would think if they were going to give the new iPhone a boost it would either have to have a more powerful processor altogether or just a double boost in the RAM department. What do you all think?

The Touch is undoubtably being advertised as a gaming platform (see latest commercials) but will the iPhone continue to be pushed in the same direction or will we see the Touch get HUGE performance boost and iPhone's kind of stick with the 'productivity' side of things, including being underpowered compared to the Touch as it is now?

Hmmm...

I hope not. I like the iPhone more than the Touch, hehe. I want the all-in-one style device personally.
