Fine with me.If they can leave the phone the same size and increase the screen a little that's fine too.

Kind of ironic that not too many years ago phones were judged by how SMALL they were eh?

Personally I'd be disappointed if the screen weren't 4 inches. LTE is kind of cool, but I spend so much of my life in wifi range that it just isn't going to get me excited about a new iPhone. But a little extra real estate on that screen sure would.

Its hard for apple to adopt a bigger screen for the iphone because it will cause fragmentation.

Why is the screen size so important. The OS that drives it and the retina display far exceed the importance to me than the screen size. Not to mention the iTunes function and all the other important details of the iPhone.

One would give that up for a small bump in size? Screen whores.

if it's bigger than 4" I have the feeling that I will keep my 4S for a long time :)

Still only 3.5"? I have an android phone with a 4.3" screen, it holds in my hand just fine. Don't know until you try.

As of this writing your post has 20 down votes. A strong indication that people are in a rut that they like. Change is just too stressful. :D

If indeed Apple clings to the past, I guess I will see how long my current model will endure. I'm not abandoning the iPhone, but I'm not about to buy another till Apple caves in and gets with the times.

What's the point in having a smartphone in an ever growing digital world if you can't truly enjoy anything other than making phone calls and texting? And that's basically all a 3.5" device is good for because it in no way compares to web browsing, watching videos on Youtube and Netflix, gaming, or doing business work with documents and what not on a larger 4.3"-5.3" phone.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note at the moment and while I've thoroughly enjoyed it what time I've had it I would honestly like to downsize just a little to something more in the 4-4.5" range for pocketability sake, but definitely not back to 3.5" like my iPhone 3GS. After using the Note for a while and then picking back up the iPhone it's like a little kids toy and you get so spoiled from using a larger screen that you just can't go back.

Still using iPhone 3GS as I do not like the 4/4S (these sharp-edged glass/metal bricks simply feel bad in the hand). Got tired of waiting for something better (4S was a real disappointment), so changing to Samsung Galaxy Nexus next week. The 4.65 inch (1280x720, 316 dpi) screen is not too large, I can use it with one hand. Going back to iPhone later will require a larger screen (at least 4 inch) and a major update of software and physical design.

Because the only reason to buy a phone is for it's physical appearance? I don't get this mentality. It seems to be going around a lot lately. Don't get me wrong though, I like change every now and then.

the design is the most important part for me, its also the reason why i went for the iPhone and not for a Samsung in the first place. having the same design for 3 generations is indeed BORING. its not like u buy the same designed BMW twice just because it got a new engine either

i had the original xbox 360 but i loved how the new slim xbox looked so i got it, didnt care for the improved hardware at all it was just a plus ;)

Boring? I don't depend on how my phone looks to entertain me.

Wow .. LTE iPhone??!! And they're going to use the same design again? That's okay, I love the current from factor of iPhone. But some notes though:

1. I hope the next iPhone support LTE for more countries beside US and Canada. Don't be like the new iPad. What good LTE iPhone if it's only LTE able on a small part of the world?

2. If LTE is the main additional feature of the next iPhone, actually it's less and less tempting upgrading 4 to 4S. Some people said it wasn't that much of an upgrade, but now this??? :p A5X chip is a welcome addition, but nothing too sexy with additional GPU, I don't game a lot on my iPhone, it could make it runs out of juice whenever I need it for serious communication. Then I'm SOL.

3. LTE is only good if there are proper and enough bandiwidth limits. Current LTE plan for new iPad is ridiculous. You get 20 - 60Mbps in real world test and all you got is 1GB limit? It could run out in like 3 4minutes with that kind of monstrous speeds. Verizon is even more dangerous since it always give you free tethering. You can spend horribly lots and lots of data with tethering.

4. I really hope they come up with 4" screen, 3.5" is already small these days. Especially for a touch smartphone.

5. I doubt about Microdock connector, what kind of name is that? That way Apple would make a different connector between iPad, iPhone or even iPod? iPod shuffle connection already horrible and Apple almost don't care about it, so please don't make iPhone with microdock, maybe some kind of adapter could be useful though, but keep the dock.

Some of the comments regarding a 4" screen are absolutely ridiculous.

A 4" screen might add 5mm of width and most likely nothing to the length of the phone. Is that 5mm going to prevent you from using it one handed if you had to? Or prevent you from putting it in your pocket?

And to all of you saying that 3.5" is perfect, wouldn't it be nice to have a little more screen when editing photos in iPhoto or one of the other great editing apps?

Or how about reading? How great would it be to be able to fit more on the screen when reading an iBook?

Or gaming or watching a video. Come on folks. You can't be THAT much against a slightly bigger screen. It can only make the iPhone a better device.

I love my 4S but I would love a 4" screen.

A microdock connector? Nothing like making all those spare docking cables we have bough over the years useless. Thanks Apple.

It's not like Apple is doing it to make more money. Apple is making it smaller so that the phone has more space for other stuff or to make the phone thinner. Also how long have they had the same dock connector? Must be at least 5+ years.

Third, if you bought the spare connectors from Apple at the full blown price it is your fault. There are other companies that make quality 3rd party cables for much cheaper.

Who do you think you all are kidding? Bottom Line: All Sheep will buy the next iPhone regardless of how it ends up being. Sheep don't have the individual thinking that is required to speak for themselves. If you don't want a 4+ inch screen and the next iphone has a 4+ inch screen, guess what? Your gonna still buy it. This is a fact. If you don't like something about your iProduct, guess what? Your not gonna say it because you feel like your saying something negative about your beloved Apple. It's quite sad. Just look at how many here say, "ummmm...I'm good with whatever they decide." Really? You have absolutely no preference whatsoever? That is the true definition of sheep.

I skipped the 4S and hung on to my 4. I'll be upgrading to the next iPhone whether it retains the 3.5" screen or gets bumped up to ~4" LTE tethering is going to be great for my iPad and macbook.

Now if for some odd reason it doesn't get LTE, i'll be sticking with my 4 for yet another round.

Ohh I know, we will state the obvious. Of course the next iPhone will have 4G, the likelyhood of a bigger screen is slim since the resolution must be changed, therefore applications in the app store must accomodate for the change in resolution, if they keep the same resolution but in a bigger screen, they will probably lose the 'retina display'. So a change in screen size is highly unlikely, the micro-port claim is just another one of those logic based rumours; so nothing new here, all obvious statements!

I don't know why everyone is so obsessed with that tear-drop design. The phone won't sit level and it's crap.

If they can do that, then fine, but I don't think it would make browsing "1000 times better." I have seen 4" screens, and even the 4.6" screens, and while they have a nice initial visual impact, my next reaction is that they are very big devices. I plan to get the next iPhone primarily for the LTE, and I don't need a giant screen for its own sake.

I do not like big screens either. My wife has the Dinc2 which has a 4" screen and it is the same exact size as my iPhone. And u wouldn't think that 1/2" would make that much of a difference in reading a web page, but it does. There is so much wasted screen real estate in the current iPhone and I think it should be utilized. I don't have a problem with the 3.5" screen and the size of the phone, but I absolutely think that both with increase slightly on the 5.

I think the next iPhone is going to be a jaw dropper. It's going to be totally different then anything we've seen.

Honestly... I think the screen on the iPhone is sufficient as is... in this case bigger would just be bulkier... not better... if I need a bigger screen... I'll pick up my iPad...

And for those that don't think LTE is a big deal... I have to say... you have to experience it to appreciate... Been using it on my new iPad... and so far, LTE is faster than my cable internet at home... its amazing...

Do you always carry both iPhone and iPad with you? That would be weird.

I always have the iPhone in my pocket and usually have my iPad in my messenger bag. You think there's something wrong with that?

Deja vu all over again. I'm sure I read all these posts last August while we were waiting for the 4S to be released. Including the guy offering to bet his house that it would have a larger screen. If I remember correctly, they were all wrong that time too.

Come'on its been 4-5 freakin years of the same basic design. It was revolutionary at first and refresh with the 4 but now i want something different. I don't mind the basic design with a single button but give a bigger phone, change the shape or do something. I dont want the same rectangular 3.5 inch iphone that everyone has.
