I’m guessing the top 2reasons an iPhone stops working or becomes unusable?
Dropped and broken screen.
Moisture damage.
So curious with the new screens if they are as susceptible to drops and shattering?
Everyone is in contact with water, accidents may happen, so any improvement on moisture damage is welcome.
4s from work, phone slipped, fell from up high on concrete and screen shattered.
Wife’s 5 battery died fast after a year
Works 6 for me was flawless.
Wife’s 6+ had the touch problem, seemed to disappear with a fresh install.
Wife’s 7+ working great
Hoping the 8 is coming to me

The only solution to prevent water resistance iPhone gets damaged by water is to put the phone in a waterproof case such as lifeproof like I do. Current lifeproof case is a great case and has a clear back to show off my beautiful eye catching and attention getter product red iphone. Lifeproof has improved their case by making it thinner and no noise or phone call voice issues as before.

My car bumpers are supposed to withstand a low speed crash, I trained myself not to crash the car into a tree. Doesn't mean I don't care about the ability to withstand a low speed crash.
In general I agree. Especially considering that water damage is not covered under the warranty. However, no car manufacturer portrays hitting things as a part of normal usage. Apple on the other had does show using the iPhone near and in water as a fun enhancement to your lifestyle.
People do want a waterproof phone. Like it or not, people hate leaving their their phones behind. They feel naked without them. They want to bring them to the pool, beach, water park. They want their cameras and the ability to stay in contact.

There is no consumer grade phone that is water proof, only water resistant. Having a phone rated ip68 does not guarantee there will not be water ingress. If you want a 100% your phone won't suffer water damage, keep your phone away from the water (and your car away from trees) :)
