What is for you the biggest diference between MBP and a ordinary laptop (forget the OSX)?

If cheapest is important, check out the refurbs on the Apple Store site and then take a look at the prices at major resellers. You can have a new 15" after rebates for $1739.

You can't forget OS X when comparing a Mac to a Win PC. It's an important factor when you're considering a Mac. How could it not be? If I just wanted a nice laptop, I'd get a Thinkpad. Granted, I think my MBP is a bit nicer construction-wise than the T61p it replaced, but the Thinkpad is still an excellent laptop.

It's certainly not like comparing a MBP to an HP or Dell, which in my opinion and experience are crap.

(Yes, I have a Dell in my sig. No, I didn't pay for it; it was a hand me down)

This thread has me saving faster. I was going to wait but you guys are right--probably no monumental update for quite a bit. (I still need to save ~$1000 though. )
