Only the second one is legal, but that's still a good plan. I am looking at this option for getting a new Mac Mini. Despite being very old, my mini G4 is worth $100s of dollars. It's crazy. For a couple of hundred bucks, I can upgrade to the newer mini base config. This is the "hidden apple rebate program" that we don't ever read about when we hear about the silly "apple tax" arguments.
