I think it's funny how they keep going full circle and yet somehow manage to convey the notion that they're offering something new and bold... first there were the black G3 PowerBooks.
"Ooooh, black, that's sooo hot".
Then came the PB G4 titanium w/ black keys.
"Ooooh, metal with black keys, wicked... so much cooler than those stale old black machines".
Then came the all-silver (well, aluminium) PowerBooks.
"Ooooh... the all metal look... that's so fresh.... so much better than the stinky old metal/black machines."
Then the all-white iBook.
"Oooh baby, white... it's like, wow, what a tasty color".
Then the white MacBook, also available in black (at extra cost).
"Oooooh black, what a deep and mysterious and totally revolutionary color... it's like, uh, white, but somehow the exact opposite! It's not like every PC notebook on the planet has looked exactly like this for the last 10 years or anything.".
Then the MacBook Air.
"Ooooh, metal with black keys! I've never seen anything like this combo before. Especially not on the PB G4 circa 2002, or the Dell Inspiron 6000 series which was a ripoff of the original PB G4 and is only one of the most common laptops in the world."
I bet the next generation of Macs will be beige and that people will think it's an amazing advancement in design and an industry first.
