When does the rest of the world get the Apple Pay! Especially the UK?

Visa PR people are talking up a major rollout of the system during 2015.
They seem to suggest a soft launch somewhere like Australia early in the year.

So I'd guess before the iPhone 7 launch.

Is AMEX a separate entity and not associated with a bank? If so, are all AMEX cards able to use Apple Pay?

Yes, except for when it's not! LOL

For the most part AMEX cards are issued directly from AMEX.

But a few years ago they did start letting other banks issue AMEX cards. If you have one of those, it will clearly have another bank's info on it (maybe on the back) in addition to the AMEX branding.

Here's an example of a non AMEX issued AMEX.

Here's another:

I think for the most part all AMEX issued cards should work already.....my Costco one was able to be added immediately. I suppose the bank issued ones depend on the issuing bank. Also, I doubt internationally issued AMEXs are working yet.

Barclay US Air MasterCard quickly added to apple pay late this afternoon. Camera entry, agree to terms, verification then called listed phone number. After entering account number on phone individual answered in apple pay area in 30 seconds, asked security question. Ready to go with message on iPhone passbook ready for apple pay. All done in about 5 minutes.

Yes my Barclay Mastercard is same. They said it was verified for me. But not on the settings and thus cannot choose this (same for my PNC which they said was "OK") so I guess for now this is a bust yet....

Remove the card and try again. I just did that and it worked. Had to call again of course. But verification worked immediately.

I have a USAA Amex that just errors out, I believe the card is eligible as I get past that check. I just get an error that says Try again later, or contact issuer. Can anyone confirm if they have been able to get the USAA Amex added? I was able to get my USAA MC Debit card added with no issues.

New Bank? - Also was able to active a card from "Elan Financial Services"; they are service/issue accounts for a number of small banks in the midwest (possibly more regions).

USAA has a blog post stating that Amex support will be coming later.

fyi in the SE: Regions Bank, Renasant Bank and Keesler Federal Credit Union are also Apple Pay active now. Anyone know if Sun Trust is Apple Pay yet?

Regions bank is not live yet on Apple Pay. I assume they would have emailed me at the branch/work if so. The only communication is before the shopping season we will be live on it.

I called NFCU this evening. NFCU Cucard will not be supported in Apple Pay. The Visa check card (the red card) will be supported in Apple Pay.

So I asked if they will re-issue me a Visa check card (they will :) ). I tried out out Apple Pay (credit card) at the vending machine at the gym. No probelms. :)

NCSECU time for you to step up to the plate....

My PNC still in phone contact phase even though I talked to someone who assured me there was nothing else to do and that "it would work."

Anyway I have been poking around tonight and wonder if there are some problems I need to resolve. I have two apple ID's (yeah I am one of those) My original itunes/store one with no email for login and my icloud. The icloud still is on my old Barclay card and somehow is not using my PNC debit that is on Apple Store, Itunes Store and App Store? And so I changed the icloud one so that I am using the PNC debit t card in all of these.

Unfortunately change made no difference....

Ok I finally realized (stupid me) that I needed to login to itunes or app store with my icloud apple ID not the old ID I have for all my app and music and video purchases. Got the card changed to the same card. Now it is a selection in passport to select the PNC card as already with apple. But same issue ensues the card needs to be verified by phone. I give up. Hopefully PNC can help or I can get in later on a less busy day and get help.

I just have to track down the source of this BS ... where the f did you get this information from?

Both Regions and Renasant Bank are not supported by Apple Pay at this time.

I don't think it has anything to do with this (whether the card is setup already with your Apple ID). I have two non-PNC Visa cards that added and were verified via an SMS code sent to my phone, the process was painless. Only with PNC am I having an issue. Whether the card was set as my payment method for my Apple ID made no difference. When I called PNC, I was on hold forever and the rep eventually just told me to call tomorrow. I have no idea why they couldn't activate things over the phone.

Just tried to add my Keesler Federal debit card and no go :(

Where did you get this information from? Keesler Federal is most definitely not supported yet!

When will stores accept Apple Pay? Seems most store do not want it.

At least 220000 accept it (those officially on board, many more accept it because NFC is turned on in their terminal even if they don't know it), so try again troll. In the rest of the world many millions (every place with NFC can accept a US card)....

Remove card and try again.

Having trouble loading my PNC debit card. Said "your issuer does not yet offer support for this card." Don't understand why?? Boo.

----------

My PNC debit card is now saying "Your issuer does not offer support for this card yet". I have a debit card with one of the optional team logo designs. Others on twitter also reporting their logo cards don't work. Hopefully this is resolved soon or I will opt to stop paying the $10/yr fee and go back to a normal PNC debit card.

Same here. On hold with PNC now.

Did you have to call in for the final verification or is there a non call-in method? I only had to wait like 30 seconds to get a rep and they had a "to verify Apple Pay" option in the initial greeting.

After you scan the NFCU cards into the Apple Pay app....simply call NFCU and select option#8 to speak with a rep to complete the activation process.
As soon as they do, you'll get a mssg on your device confirming the NFCU card is ready for use with Apple Pay

Same goes with my Barclays cards as well....had to phone in to complete activation process.

I have a debit card for my Fidelity HSA but the back of the card says it's issued by PNC Bank, so I was hoping it would work, but nope.

Not that it matters too much, my prescriptions are at CVS and I'm not switching.
