I once scoffed at Apple focusing so much on the iPad with recent iOS releases, but since acquiring my iPad Pros I’m now using them almost exclusively and appreciate all the improvements.

Have to say with the Files app, as long as Safari is so problematic with downloading files, and as long as iOS has no way to unzip downloaded files, I’ll continue to use Readdle’s Documents. That app has made iOS much more functional.

I recommend Yoink to help with downloading files. It is best app I have found... between that and “Opener” app, I have not had any issues manipulating files. I have Readdles apps installed but don’t use them much.

Wow man, you may have just completely changed up my workflow. THANKS! Awesome post!

There’s no technical reason why Face ID couldn’t support more than one face. It actually would be perfect for a multi-user device, taking each user instantly to their own customized home screen/apps/etc.
Sorry to differ. i can think of several technical reasons (as well as plenty of Apple's own monetizing issues).

Let me try in order of perceived decreasing importance:
  1. Speed in Pattern Recognition: FaceID is an always-on system requiring no prodding (unlike TouchID or passwords). It would have to cull against multiple ids on its image store (or its mathematical equivalent) without perceived latency by humans.
  2. Precision in Pattern Recognition (within time constraints): Given the recognition-time constraints, how many false positives (a failure), and how many false negatives (an irritant) are allowed in the pattern recognition?
  3. Size of Image Store in Pattern Recognition: How much "multi" is multi-user? Because size of images store affects speed, precision, and margin (TC's overarching interest).
I will say it again:
FaceID on the iPad, when/if it appears, will be aligned closely with single-user iOS, where even "new iPad for School", remains unapologetically single-user.

Having two documents open from the same App (other than Safari) on the iPad is high on my wish list.

I agree. I do a lot of this kind of stuff, working with multiple documents from the same app which is one reason why I haven't bought a new iPad in years. I would love for the iPad to become my road warrior device instead of my 15" MacBook Pro which is great for home - not so much for travel.

current iOS and macOS are still under development (announced features pending to implement), however in 1 month the next versions will be announced :eek:. Future is scary for my iPad and Mac.

I’ve become totally disillusioned with my iPad Pro. Everyday I find something else it can’t do. Will be going back to a MB once new models are released.

I hope one day Apple gives people legitimate access to the entire drive. A true file manager like the Finder would really be a game changer. The iPad Pros are already starting to rival the power of ultra portable notebooks. Being able to have more control of one's files would really make them much more useful. The Files app and better dock were welcome improvements but these devices have so much untapped potential.

Can we please get multiple profile support? I shouldn’t have to buy an iPad for every person in my family.

That is exactly what Apple wants you to do ;)

By the way I’m still holding out hope that Apple put that “no new features in iOS 12” out there as misdirection.... I refuse to believe that a company worth so many billions of dollars, doesn’t have enough resources to dedicate to Stabilization and enhancements at the same time.

One needed feature is the ability to easily and quickly name a picture file right in the camera app. Like BB10.

The ability to put pictures from one camera shooting session into a folder I choose would be another great feature.

Perhaps when a person searches for a file on their iPhone, results from their home desktop computer could show-up. People don't store everything in iCloud.

LOL! That is no accident -- that is intentional. TC would have a heart attack if anyone advances iOS as multi-user -- even for schools where there is no valid excuse. [And, once FaceID migrates to iPad hardware, the iPad as a single-user device is all but official.]
