Can we PLEASE have multiple DND profiles so I can have one schedule during the workweek and a different one on the weekend? That seems like it should take about 50 lines of code. Jeez.
Apple executives' goal is to sell more hardware. There is no financial incentive to sell fewer devices that can be shared in a household or workplace.
Remember its all about the money that goes into the pockets of the executives. Otherwise they would do the moral thing and not use loopholes to avoid paying taxes.

See my reply to motm95.

@CrystalQuest76 You obviously did not read my post at all. I was talking about multiple DND profiles FOR ME not multiple user profiles for iOS devices. Sheesh.

You mean like one for your paladin, one for your mage, one for your rogue, etc?

For my paladin and mage, yes. They keep to very specific schedules. My rogue, however, well, he likes to go rogue.

You know I could gain back some respect for Cook if he would get up on stage and simply say, "This years software will have better quality and that is our focus. Sure there are few new features, but most important is reliability and quality. So I'll turn it over to ?????? to show you the list of 12000 bug fixes we are releasing." Then leaves the stage.
The sad thing is that's exactly what they said about High Sierra. It was all under-the-hood fine tuning. I still haven't updated, and I was a Mac OS X Public Beta tester (the original 10.0.0 beta you had to pay for). Cook loves saying if you don't pay for it you're the product. It also seems that if you don't pay for the OS, the quality suffers.

I recommend Yoink to help with downloading files. It is best app I have found... between that and “Opener” app, I have not had any issues manipulating files. I have Readdles apps installed but don’t use them much.

I love you, man.

Two things you can take to the bank:
It won't be called iOS13 because an international company like apple is not going to risk issues from the superstitions over "13".
If file management finally for iOS comes to the fore, It's the death knell for a discrete OS for all us luddites that still actually use laptops or desktops for things like... actual REAL work.

Just like Apple to take rudimentary functionality present for the past fifty years and take five years to introduce and tweak it on iOS. File management on iOS is still absolute garbage.

I don't think even proper file management is enough to actually replace (and I don't mean complement) a laptop for most people. Scrolling is still a chore on a screen compared to a trackpad and the same goes for clicking/maneuvering objects.

Performing complicated tasks on the iPad is akin to a long distance relationship between two people who can barely communicate: there's time zone, cultural, and language differences. I mean you can do it, but it's just incredibly arduous and there's far easier alternatives.

Like macOS 10.13?

Additional animojis! Yes!

i suspect that no later than iOS 13 we'll be able to buy animojis like we can do stickers

iPads are not meant to be shared, this is not a wePad. The solution is simple, you just buy more iPads. Why, because apple loves money.

while that is true I would support 'multiple users' in one use case. having an unlimited and a restricted profile on the same device. when junior uses his finger he gets the restricted one. when I use mine, I get the unlimited.

even for schools where there is no valid excuse.

actually schools do have a valid excuse, and that's why Apple created the server based multi user system that schools can now use, in iOS 9

these leaks prove to never be accurate.

i think this will be somewhat accurate.

what I think the truth could be is: yes there will be a lot of 'bug fix' type tweaking this iOS go around. the features they are saying will be held for iOS 13 may not all be since some are just tweaks of existing stuff. like the photos app improvements. also in regards to the whole cross platform thing, I think that that might be a lot of ado about basically nothing. something tells me that they aren't making it so iOS apps can run on Mac OS (outside of a X code tie in) but rather that developers can bundle apps across the system so basically there will only be one store. the App Store. and we can see apps for all systems on all stores and if someone creates a Mac OS and an iOS version and wants to sell them as a bundle they can do so and the server will send the appropriate version to each device. and new coding features will make it easier to create 'ports' across the systems. so we could have an actual facebook app on our macs, an actual Instagram app etc that looks like the ones we use on our devices, just with mouse and keyboard rather than touch. which yes developers could technically always do but few have because it was like dealing with two different systems.

Apple is the biggest taxpayer in the country. What a silly thing to say.

Interesting that the ‘marzipan’ framework still seems to be on track.

I suspect that the Gruber piece was classic expectation management from Apple.

We’ll see it at WWDC but something of that magnitude (plus surely a version of the iOS App Store coming to the Mac) is not going to be ready to go live for September, nor will developers have time to feedback and redo their apps in that time either.

So I’m calling an introduction of it next month with a deliberately vague ‘next year’ launch promise, where Apple are really aiming for March 2019.

The parental controls and enhanced do not disturb are interesting. I think that Apple realise that the ‘time well spent’ movement is onto something.

I expect that privacy will be a big focus of iOS 12, even though Mark G doesn’t mention it. It’s an easy win for Apple to focus on that right now (and users & governments are demanding it).

Whatever the case, I’m glad that more Animoji are coming this year & even in FaceTime. Can’t wait for the onstage demos! :(

Don’t forgot to wear your best dad shirt when you demo Animoji, senior Apple executives! :D

But what I fear from Cook is more of the "Its incredible!", which in reality to normal people not trying to BS the market place is it's really not all that incredible, just a little different.

As a developer, I really want non-BS. So it would also not hurt my feelings if Cook skipped this years WWDC. That would be a big improvement.

I agree with your first point of quality software and bug fixes should be a focus at the meeting but that should not be all. Another year has passed with a number of products being deleted from the Apple catalog. I want and need to know a little about where Apple is headed as a user and stockholder. I need to have something to look forward too. We've had to change several systems this year including our Wi-Fi network away from Apple. Our automation plans have had to be completely changed because of Apple's disinterest. I don't agree that Tim Cook should skip this year's WWDC. He needs to be there and hear the "hall noise" as I'm hearing the "hall noise". Apple seems to be "skimming" and not innovating and I want Tim to show me I'm wrong. I need something from this year's meeting both as a developer and user.

I think it’s a good thing that Apple is finally getting serious about all the bugs that plague iOS. It has really gotten bad since they gave Forstall the boot. At the same time, it’s somewhat embarrassing that a company with Apple’s immense wealth and resources can’t figure out how to walk and chew gum at the same time by also delivering new features.

It's not how software development works, if you introduce new features you inevitably introduce new bugs, if you want to focus on stability you have to stop adding features and fix what's not working.

The Files app now is pathetic. As others have mentioned, where is the calculator app, weather app, etc.
Also, mouse and trackpad support. The whole layout of icons on the iPads is wasted - zero effort has gone into taking advantage of a larger screen, true multi-tasking, and two two hand dance when pasting is joke.

Apple should stop allowing advertisements on devices. It is pathetic you get full screen advertisement on Casino games when you watch you tube or use other apps. Most of the apps are subscription, so to use it I have to register to 3d party. My opinion. iOS IS SUCKY.

Who watches WWDC? It is pain to watch. Political Correctness, same Dick,Tim..etc on stage. I'm bothered how crappy the software is.

After 11 years, even Apple is sick of living in the walled prison they created called iOS.
It's even worse: They are porting the prison scheme to MacOS, so that MacOS tells you what you have to do, how, and when, and no, you can't say "no", you can say "ask me later".

Apple will unveil iOS 12, macOS 10.14, tvOS 12, and watchOS 5 at its upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference that kicks off on Monday, June 4. The first day will include a keynote event where Apple will share all of the new features coming in the software updates, and following the keynote, developers will be provided with access to the software to begin to prepare their apps ahead of a fall public launch.

You say all, but that's not a fact, it's not the first time (AFAIK) that the GM had more features than Apple announced at the WWDC event.

Very happy to hear this. iOS 11 is awesome on my iPad Pro so I look forward to another iPad centric release. I expect a big focus here over the the next 3 years as they position iOS as a potential replacement for macOS. I’m interested with what they’ll do with all that space when it comes to a home screen redesign.
