So Samsung has under screen cameras now but we have to wait 3 years to see it on the iPhone? Not that Apple or anyone else would care, but I'm seriously looking at going back to the "dark side" (Android/ Windows) during Apple's second innovation slump. The first slump is when Tim Cook took over and most of the Mac product line wasn't getting updated. Apple just seems complacent and not really creating the usual "game-changing" tech. Now other companies have caught up and are offering more interesting and innovative products. I'm hoping Apple's is simply ramping up something big like A/R.

I love how the article states:

The Pro models will be first to feature new display innovations, as first seen last year with the Dynamic Island exclusive to the ‌iPhone 14 Pro

The Dynamic Island is hardly a "display innovation". They simply created a cutesy notification area to hide the pill. In the end, the pill actually consumes more screen because it renders the area between the pill and the top of the screen unusable.

The quality of the images shown on the display and the quality of images captured by the camera will be lower if this rumor is true.
So you’re on team notch?
When Ive was pushing Apple engineers to make products thinner, people complained, now Ive is gone and finally Apple is making phones thicker, people are complaining.

Woa woa - we like it thick!

What I'm really curious about is the main camera array roadmap. Is periscope coming to the normal-sized Pro any time soon? This might well drive my next purchase decision.

Phones are commodities. You can have an amazing smartphone for $200. The lock in is iMessage. If Americans switched to a different messaging app, Apple would be finished. Europeans, and Asians, are, in general, a bit brighter than us stupid Americans, and aren't iMessageHeads. That's why Apple holds no sway there.
So I can trust Meta’s WhatsApp? 😂

Hell no! I’m on team bezel. In fact, I’m team captain of team bezel. See my OP below to see what I mean:

The current visible front camera can already spy on us… we’re completely reliant on trusting the software to indicate that the camera is being used now.
At least you know where it is. So you could put a sticker on it. That's what many people already do with their notebook. At an ATM for example I cover the camera with my hand. If it is under the display, I do not know which part I have to cover.

I always wondered why camera indicators are done by software. They should just physically be wired to the camera. So whenever the camera gets power, the indicator lamp gets power too. With that physical connection no hacker would be able to power the camera, but not the indicator lamp. The same trick could work with microphones, which are much harder to cover than a camera.

8+ was the greatest phone ever. That phone, remade with a better camera and go back to the all metal (or even better, plastic) back, would be an instant buy, at any price, as much as I despise Apple under current leadership. That screen was never before, and has never since, been equalled. Home button, touch ID, no notch, incredible DPI with totally invisible pixels. What the heck happened... 🙁
Yes!! Bring back Touch ID.
