I'm not really well versed with foreign (to me) cell providers. Does a subsidized phone cost more on your payments or what? How does this work?
It just doesn't make sense to me to get a more expensive phone subsidized by a carrier and end up paying less in the end. I guess the end game is locking you into a contract?
1) Since I am not leaving AT&T might as well take advantage of the upgrade.
2) I can't see someone who is at the entry-level of smartphones even knowing about the Nexus 4, let alone jumping through the hoops to actually get one.
Sure. I ordered it around 12 pm the 13 th. I never received a backorder email. I emailed Google on Saturday about it not shipping. They of course didn't respond. But I got a shipping notice Tues morning. I got the phone that night.
Ringtones still seem completely fine while its on its back but when playing a video and laying it down I have noticed it being muffled a lot more.Any issues with ringtone volume when laying flat on back?
Did anyone else receive their Nexus 4 with 2 sets of sealing tape on them? Mine came with the first seals obviously cut open and resealed again on top with new pieces of tape.
I don't want to open it myself to check the contents since I'm selling it as Brand New In Box.

How much are you selling it for?
I sold it locally for $500 Canadian. I bought it for ~$425 Canadian. There are other people listing it for $700 and up which is crazy imo. I think $500 was fair given the amount of time I spent hitting F5 in my browser to get one.
I had the buyer open it to make sure there was no damage or anything before buying it. It looked fine and he was happy. He also tried to get one online but was one of the unfortunate ones that kept getting errors after getting it in his shopping cart.
I would have been willing to pay a bit more but would need it shipped to Ireland.

Much easier unlock and root toolkit (windows only for now!):

Yes bootloader unlock. The guides I have seen have you unlock the bootloader first. Not sure why that is but it only seems to need to be done once (resets all data on the device).Unlock? It is already unlocked. Unless you mean bootloader unlock which in my experience with ROMS wasnt neccessary to flash ROMs since everything including root was in the ROM once you flash it.
So you didnt like it or went thru all that trouble just to make an extra $75?
You got a backorder email ? And got it shipped ? Wtf what time was your order.
That's the best part, no email, or anything else. I purchased at 11:36 EST on the 13th. Confirmation said shipping on the 15th. My order status on Play/Wallet stayed that way the whole time. I got fed up on Monday and called them and that was when I was told that I was on backorder and that they couldn't tell me when it would ship.
I asked why I wasn't emailed a backorder confirmation. He replied, "Oh you only ordered 1 device. The backorder emails seem to have only went out to people ordering more than 1."
I asked him to cancel the order. He said it couldn't be done even though it hadn't shipped. I would have to refuse delivery from UPS and wait for the credit after it was sent back to Google. Yes, really.
My order status online still never changed even after that phone call. Worst purchase experience I've ever had.
