You should check out the Anker Astro Slim3. It is nearly the exact same size as my Nexus 4, has a 6000 mAh battery, and has a built in cable so you don't need to worry about bringing one along with you. Plus it is very durable and I feel comfortable leaving it in my pocket with my keys.

Thanks! I will definitely take a look :)

I find it interesting that because there are so many [good] alternatives in the android world, one critical thing of the nexus 5 and it's a deal breaker (go through the thread; one thing to dislike and people will look elsewhere). Whereas because apple offers very limited options with the iPhone people are more forgiving when there are even multiple shortcomings in the new model. What choice do they have if they want an iOS device? They have to deal with it and/or wait and hope the next year's model will have what they're looking for.

Kind of fascinating to think about and says a lot (both good and bad) about both those worlds.

It's because at the end of the day, it accomplishes everything we want it to do. I've stuck with the iPhone mainly because of customer support and reliability. Might switch to the Nexus 5 but that's about the only Android device I would switch to.

I'm on my 6th Nexus 4 and this could not be more true. Although I prefer Android as an OS, but Apple definitely has much better customer support and iOS has been much more reliable in my experiences.

Yup. Never been so excited hyped about an Android device before like I was for the Nexus 4 but damn the way Google handled release, the months before resupply, and sending in your phone for repair through the mail, **** that.

I haven't experienced crap like that ever since I had the very first Xperia (X1).

I'm just not sending my phone off, sorry. Walk into a Apple store and get it fixed or replaced on the spot.

If the nexus 5 is out and the jailbreak for ios7 is not ready, I'll get it.
Otherwise, 5S. :)

I'm not getting my hopes up I just don't see a phone with these specs for under $400.

I feel the same way. Especially that they are now offering GPE phones. I hope I am wrong, but I see a starting price of $450ish, which is still a great deal.

Shouldn't have mentioned Apple, couch. As you can see, it immediately brings out the iFans. Speaking of, do you guys just sit in the Alternatives section and wait for someone to say "Apple", "iPhone", "Android", etc? You guys are like sharks that sense blood in the water.

What I'm saying is (iEnvy, Vetvito, etc), again...why are you guys here? Just to piss on everyone's parade when it comes to the Nexus 5? I, and I'm sure many other here, don't care about your experience or feelings on Apple's support vs. Google's. We know this, yet we still buy the "inferior" phone according to you. Wonder why that is?

I agree with you on the Apple support. It is very nice to have a brick and mortar shop to take your product.

Once again this thread goes from discussing the Nexus to another tangent.

Disappointing but not unexpected.

The device will cost around $220 to make.

Selling it at $349 will mean profits for LG. Google is playing at the break-even game.

Google can play the break even game because they want you to buy their stuff in the play store, use Google search, and all the other things Google offers that they make money off. Apple could do the same thing with iphone, but they choose to make the money off the phone, and ecosystem that follows. Amazon plays the break even game too with the Kindle fire, and makes a killing off content.

Google was really smart with the nexus 7 (2012), and the nexus 4. Get as many people as you can to buy the phone because it is so cheap, and let them spend the money on content in your play store. Great business model, and I don't see much changing with the nexus 5.

Actually, Amazon doesn't make a killing......

Don't know about this most recent quarter.

When I had an issue with my Nexus 4 they sent me a new one quickly. Then I would just send the old one back once it arrived. Not as good as a physical store but not bad.

That option is pretty cool, if you have a useable phone.

I'm still getting the next Nexus regardless.

Only part that sucks is having to that multiple times.....or worse yet having the package "lost in transit" and having to convince CS you aren't trying to game the system.....

There's a lot more that can go wrong with this method. Not saying its bad - I've had decent experiences (not horrible, not great), but in no way does it compare to Apple's CS.

That said, if this puppy comes in around N4 pricing, I'm all over it like a fat kid on cake.

Oh well that is interesting. Did not know that. Thanks for the link. I would still say that is were all the money if for Google and Apple.

Yup - stock soars quarter after quarter yet the company rarely actually cuts a profit.....one of the great mysteries of the business world.

If I'm Apple, I have no problem where I am. Always amazes me the armchair CEOs on here who KNOW what Apple should do and are boisterous about it. Guaranteed if all the posters on here started a tech company like Apple, they'd fail with a majority of the ideas thrown about on here.

For the record, I'm a HUGE Amazon fan. Prime is one of the greatest services out there, and now that I have a Macbook Air - I'm seriously considering swapping my iPad for a Kindle Fire (now that the processor is up to snuff. Previous generations have always been slow). I just have too much content on iTunes which would either NOT transfer or be a pain....
