Yeah, I agree with that too, like I've said before.
It's just my personal opinion of course. Everyone has their own. I just would feel like having both the Nexus 7 and 5 in my case would be redundant.
My first post about it was actually referring to my own personal case. I said that after buying my new Nexus 7 I felt no need for the Nexus 5 anymore. I was taking about my personal case.

I am not sure if I am buying this new October 15th rumor. That is Tuesday. If they were having an event they would have sent invites out already. I am aware that last year they didn't have an event and it was just a press release, but that was because of Sandy. They had to cancel their event. I don't think Google would want to do that again this year. They probably will want to hold an event.

I'm not buying into it either. Artem Russakovskii from Android Police has been posting some interesting rumors he has heard on his G+ page. He hasn't been posting them on Android Police because of his confidence level on these rumors, but he obviously feels some level of confidence to post on G+.
If he had felt more confident about the October 15th date, he probably would have posted that on his G+ page or Android Police. So at this point, it seems he is more confident about an October 31st announcement.

definitely gonna pick one up. I was gonna get a 5S, but even with an at&t early upgrade fee of $450 I'd still have to sign another 2 year contract, so this'll be cheaper for me.
I love my s3 the only thing I hate is waiting for updates (I'm still on 4.1) which I won't have to worry about on the nexus 5

If you're on post-paid and your carrier subsidizes it, sure. But, to manage expectations, T-Mobile was the only US carrier to offer the Nexus 4. One of the selling points of the Nexus line is that it's SIM unlocked at a cheaper price than the big name flagships.
i am from the uk....
nearly all the major networks in england do the nexus...but most say its better to buy the phone and go on a ''sim only'' plan

It really depends on your monthly plan/carrier. Many like the freedom to be able to jump from carrier to carrier, or to use when traveling abroad, which an unlocked phone would allow. Difference would be negligible to me as I'm on a family plan with 4 lines, so I'd probably go with the subsidized option if it was available on my carrier.
Are HTC features more important or is an updated android as soon as Google updates it more important?
All a nexus needs is a proper camera and for my use case, all OEM skinned devices are useless. I already enjoy the Google play ROM on my s4 with none of the s-jizz and updates just a tad slower than pure nexus, but I hate the screen so I hope I can swap it for a nexus 5 in future.

I was thinking of getting the htc one...but people are saying wait for the nexus. This phone has to last me two years so i want to get the best phone I can. What concerns me is the fact people say android phones start to lag after a while and also iphones tend to hold value more imo...

The problem I have is that i have a huge itunes collections with thousands of songs from the itunes store....
Whilst the nexus 5 is a great phone...it isn't suited to be used a main music player compared to the iphone and even htc one because the sound quality will not be as good as those two devices....
If i get the nexus i will have to buy a separate ipod i think
Personally I'll be happy if it's available to order by the second week of November; I'm heading to the US soon and will finally be able to access the geoblocked Devices section in Play.
Of course, it'll be better if NZ is supported officially this time around; we got Music earlier this year and Books a few weeks ago, so hopefully Devices will be added alongside the N5 🙂

I don't see why Google would release a product near the holiday rush knowing they won't be able to match demand, (I already know it's going to be like the Nexus 4 considering they just submitted the phone to the FCC about a month ago). I might as well not consider the Nexus 5 because there are other things to buy.

I don't use itunes, but apparently theres a variety of ways to access your collection, main one being through Google Music.
How do you know the sound quality wont be as good, the phone hasn't even been announced yet!
As for the lag, this is something I haven't experienced and ive had a variety of android devices. I suppose its what you do with it. Search for iphone lag on this forum and you will see ios has exactly the same issue.
As for resale value, my partner has the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. She paid £250 for it new and its currently worth £90. So its roughly cost her £1.50 per week and with that she has had all the latest Android updates. I really wouldnt worry about resale value. Why buy I phone worrying about how much it will be worth in 2 years time.
Latest doesn't always mean greatest. If music is very important to you, then look for a phone that specialises in music - Go for the the HTC One.
I have multiple of each device, and I can say there's no issue with using iTunes content on Android phones. Google Music automatically uploads everything to the cloud and it can all be used on Android devices. I have in the neighborhood of 32,000 songs in my iTunes library, and I can pull every single one up on my Galaxy S4 right now and listen to them. I can do the same on my iPhone or iPad. Google Music makes it easy to bring it all together.
And it's definitely just as suited to be a music player. With the later iterations of Google Music on the devices, the application works perfectly. It works well enough that Apple copied pretty much the entire look of it on their iOS7 Music app (sitting them side-by-side they look almost identical). It works great.
And the sound quality is definitely not an issue...the HTC One is the best-bet right now if you want to play music from the speakers (not using headphones), since the speakers are *loud* and pretty solid...otherwise the output sound is the same from all of these devices.
This really isn't new. It was already approved in September. Today they added "Message Access Profile" and "HID over GATT Profile."

It seems strange to me that only the D821 has a listing on the Bluetooth website. Where is the D820? If we were close to release, shouldn't the D820 be there as well?

Google music does an awful job on keeping playlist updated.
If I make a new playlist in iTunes with songs that have already been uploaded to Google music, it normally won't show up. And in the rare case it does show up, the songs in the playlist aren't the same.
