I think it's more likely that Samsung and Google don't want there announcement to be eclipsed by all the Steve Jobs Death hoopla...

This.

They know if they announce their phone now, it will get lost in the sea of Jobs news. They will wait until skies are a little clearer to maximize their exposure on tech blogs, etc.

No, you don't delay a product for a reason like this. See iPhone 4S launch if you have any questions.

Google and Samsung simply dropped the ball. Production issues, last minute defects found, bad projected sales numbers due to 747 size screen, horrible battery life... Who knows why they delayed it. SJ was NOT the reason, I can promise you.

You are pretty dumb. Jobs died the day after the 4S was announced. If he had died the day before, I am fairly certain that they wouldn't have gone on with the announcement as planned...nobody really seemed to care much about the 4S for at least a day or so after he died.

They're attempting to make the public believe they are "giving a moment of silence" But in reality something else happened. The Samsund Droid charge was delayed too...no one died then. Capitalism doesn't stop when someone dies. The markets are still trading...

Calling someone dumb for disagreeing with some pretty spacey speculation is pretty weak man. Grow up.

Perhaps they realized they'd be cutting deep into GS2 sales if they released the Prime soon.

The delay sucks but here are leaked photos and a video of the Nexus Prime: http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/07/samsung-galaxy-nexus-spotted-in-the-wild-video/

The phone in that video is no way sporting a 4.65" screen or whatever is being rumored.
