I actually like the 6P one more? Am I alone with that? I think the iPhone photos are often "realistic", but a bit boring/bland.
Yeah I think both phone cameras has their strength. 6s+ daytime photos and video recording is better cause of OIS.
However when it comes to low light the 6p does much better both in pictures and video.

For me personally I have been preferring the 6p because most of my pics are taken n low light situation and the daytime pics are still really good. I don't take much video so the lack of OIS is not a big deal for me. I also prefer a bit over saturation.

However someone who does lots of videos and macro shots and prefer true to life then the 6s+ is definitely the way to go....atleast in regards to camera.

Hey everyone. Today's the eve of my Nexus 6p upgrade. I'm coming from the iPhone 5 and have been on iOS since the original iPhone in 2007. So I'm pretty nervous. Just wanted to list some of my concerns & excitement before I transfer over to Android.

Some worries & concerns:
  • Nexus 6p build compared to iPhone, amount of glue on Nexus 6p in iFixit tear down worries me
  • Quality of 3rd Party Applications in the Play Store (good alternatives to tweetbot & overcast for podcasts)
  • Ads in applications, screenshots and youtube show people with ads in their applications; prefer to pay without ads
  • Size, such a huge size difference from iPhone 5 to Nexus 6p
  • How does Android age, the iPhone 5 has aged gracefully for me (first iPhone that I think aged well)
Excitement:
  • fast charging
  • dual front facing stereo speakers
  • access to more opensource applications
  • powerful automation applications
  • ability to change app defaults (hopefully?, not sure never used Android)
  • integration to a linux desktop
Unknown:
  • fingerprint placement on back

I am hoping that my choice of going stock android, is the best transition for a long time iOS user to the Android platform.
Any advice? or App recommendations is welcome.

As far as the fingerprint sensor on the back, if you use trusted devices/places it becomes a non-issue as it won't require you to input your pw when at home or when paired to something like a BT device if you set it as a trusted one.

Bummer, I just became aware that wifi calling for AT&T is not supported on the 6p, so that nixes it as a choice. Anyone know if that's something which can be upgraded later on, or is it due to the lack of hardware?

Wifi calling is built into Android 6.0.

Thanks ... I just enabled. Very handy.

Reluctantly sending my 6P back. Bought it for Project Fi but sadly data on Fi was spotty to non-existent at my home. Most times Speedtest couldn't even connect to servers. Even so, I gave it a hard look on my existing VZW service, where everything but Visual Voicemail worked.

While I really wanted to love the 6P, little things just soured me. Ambient Display is an unusable disaster compared to Moto Display on my MX'14. Have no BT in my car so I missed Moto Drive mode for calls and texts. Music audio quality is poor and no aptX = horrible audio to my Sony SBH80s. And it's bigger than I'd prefer, something I'd tolerate if it wasn't for these little things that are a big part of my usage.

Things I'll miss - Doze is the real deal. You can take it off the charger full before going to bed and have 98% the next morning. Rest of 6.0 is meh - used GN on tap once, it's nice but not a gamechanger yet; Didn't get into the permissions ability; prefer the 5.1.x interruptions menu options. Fingerprint reader is awesome.

All in all, the Moto X is still a better fit for my needs. Still pretty salty about no VoLTE and never getting 6.0 (Doze in particular). Don't see better sized N5X as a step up and it'll suffer the same little problems as the 6P. Just my 2 cents. YMMV.

After seeing the comparison on 6p and 6s on YouTube. I would still go with the 6s. Reason being: I'm not a huge techie; my main uses for my phone are photos and games (besides calling of course) So, even though both are great phones and process about the same speed (6p is only a tiny bit slower). I would not consider 6p.

That's great. I think your choice is fine but your reason is flawed. Both my parents, old and who wouldn't know a bit or a byte if it hit them in the head, have android phones and are very happy. Ios or Android phones both work great right out of the box.

What you read on these forums are the 1% of ios/android users who examine and discuss every technical detail of every phone before deciding. They (including me) are not the norm.

Good luck with your phone. You'll enjoy it.

I sent mine back yesterday also. I liked the phone but it was more unwieldy than the 6plus to me. Also the screen is almost not legible in sunlight and I live in Florida where it's sunny most of the time. The ambient display was a mess too.

Yep outdoor visibility does suffer

Sending mine back as well. Going to try out the Note 5. One handed use was tough for me on the 6p. At least iPHone 6+ has reachability (which isn't that great either but better than nothing). If note 5 doesn't do it for me then i'll reluctantly go back to the ipHone. Just so bored with iOS (but so far I like it better than Android). Maybe i just a new hobby :(

I'm still considering getting one. I'd like to give phablet a go, but the 6s+ with decent storage is insanely expensive over here. I'm a little bit worried about the outdoors visibility, but given that I live in Finland and winter is coming, it's not exactly a huge problem right now :D

I'm actually enjoying my second nexus 6P experience. A lot of bugs seen fixed such as the SRGB mode being reset after each reboot no longer happens on this model.

The screen is a fricking finger print magnet. The spigen glass.tr protector can't come soon enough.

You are right, I shouldn't jump so quick to conclusion about 6p. Since I already bought the 6s before watching the review, I was already biased from the beginning. It is a great phone and cheaper too, and almost process at the same speed as 6s. (only super slight difference)

Got a 6P, gonna send it back and go back to iPhone 6s Plus for battery. Used my 6p on wifi for some web browsing and reading medium length NYTimes articles for an hour and lost 22% (cell signal was full if that's any consolation). That's my morning routine on my iPhone and that generally brings me to 90-92% from full charge. Slow sip.

And the screen isn't for me personally. Nice in hand feel to the device though.

How long did you have it?
You have to remember with a new device, the battery needs to cycle a few days before you start getting a standard battery life. I can play 1 hour of Asphalt at 60% brightness and lose less than 20% battery.

I get 5 hours SOT if I do play asphalt for an hour, 6.5 hours without playing games. (roughly 15 hours usage).

Phone bends. Badly. And that's unfortunate.

Solution? Don't purposely force bend the phone in such an extreme manner. Fixed ...

Applicable no matter what device.

All phones will break if you abuse them in such extreme fashions. Expecting anything other is madness. The only thing these videos prove is that idiocy is in great supply whilst common sense seems to be a dwindling commodity.
