If you think about NFC, think iWatch ... and then probably BT LE.
I think NFC is not worth the effort and with a little more advance it technology, there will soon be better things than NFC.
BT LE is far more flexible with regards to payload, NFC is just here because it's cheap and requires less hardware / energy.
In five years NFC will be forgotten because "Secure Elements" will be on you all the time, even on modern credit and other bank cards.
Right now, it's a workaround for immature technology and the slow adaption of the consumer business.
(I once read a great article comparing NFC and BT LE, but I cannot find it. NFC looks great today, the article admitted that, but it will soon be obsolete.)
