First off, GEAUX SAINTS! Also, before anyone starts in on the bandwagon thing...I originally hail from Algiers parish New Orleans and have been a proud card carrying member of the Black and Gold since the days of the Aints.

That being said, we don't stand a chance in hell at repeating. I'm a die hard second, but a realist first and foremost. IMHO, the Jets seem to be the odds on favorite coming out of the AFC this year and I'd lay my money on the Vikes in the NFC if and only if #4 decides to come back.

As an aside I never would've imagined that the Broncos would trade Brandon Marshall to another AFC team???

"All-Time Biggest Busts" <--- although this one might get interesting if writers grow some balls and start including Jamarcus Russell and/or Reggie Bush.

Completely agree with you on Russell, but I'd throw Brady Quinn, Alex Smith, Matt Leinart, and all the defensive linemen from LSU the Chiefs have before I'd throw Reggie into that mix. Being completely honest...Reggie has all the potential in the world to be as good a flex back as let's say Marshall Faulk.

The kid needs to eat a few KFC double downs and not shy away from running downhill into a LB though...just saying.

Not sure why anyone expected anything out of Brady Quinn, but he's earned the bust label by now (although to give him a slight nod, the Browns didn't do much to help him out while he was there).

Alex Smith- definitely a bust, but at least has shown signs of redemption.

Matt Leinart- sucked to begin with.

defensive lineman from LSU- ... yeah. Although they haven't hit the "3 year" mark yet. Who knows, they could have monster seasons in 2010-11 (lol).

The thing I don't get about Reggie Bush is that he
a) plays for a good team
b) is one of the most athletic players in his division and probably in the league as a whole
c) has an offensive-minded coach
d) is no longer expected to be a primary back

...yet he still manages to underwhelm even the most modest expectations.

With an average of just 122 carries and 13 receptions per season, you'd expect...
...him to play in every game (hasn't played 16 since his rookie season)
...more than a 4.0 ypc average (to his credit he raised it to 5.6 in 09-10)
...a higher reception average than 7.4 ypr

I don't know. Running back is one of the easiest positions to adjust to coming out of college and Bush just hasn't put it together. Not what you'd expect out of a #2 overall pick.

It'll sound like I'm monday quarterbacking now but I didn't expect Reggie light it up like he did in college. From what the media was saying, it sounded like he was the second coming of Barry Sanders. Sure Reggie could juke most college players out of their shoes (on the strength his athleticism alone), but that doesn't translate to the NFL. In the NFL, EVERYONE is an athletic freak.

I remember hordes of Texans fans booing when Houston selected Mario Williams #1 overall. I was hoping for Young myself to replace David Fetal Position Carr, but now I'm glad they choose Super Mario.:)

Good points overall but riddle me this....do people in Houston REALLY blame Carr for the franchises early mishaps or that horrid O-line that had a record breaking amount of sacks allowed?

It seems like QB's always get nailed for being garbage when in the same instance one can make the argument that they:
A) never had a supporting cast
B) had a garbage offensive line
C) turmoil in the coaching ranks [i.e. multiple head coaches and/or offensive coordinators]
See Joey Harrington, Jason Campbell, and J.P. Losman...all three had NFL caliber talent or at least the ABILITY to develop but they never did due to one of the aforementioned reasons IMO.

I don't think it was Carr's fault at all. My stance is that the Texans' ruined him. He never had a solid O-line. That and the fact he never had a chance to develop to his potential ruined him by his 3rd seasons. He had Andre Johnson and Domanick Davis (a poor man's Reggie Bush, except for the under performing part;)).
If he had had the chance to backup someone like Kurt Warner, he could have been an elite QB. I remember his first Pro game, he pick apart the 'Boyz defense. He was a lot better than Eli Manning coming out of college. The beating he took as a Texan ruined his career.

Yeah, I would say Mark Sanchez is a prime candidate for a sophomore slump... but he didn't really do anything last year so there's nowhere to go but up.

That's because they kept him on somewhat of a short leash. He's gonna have Edwards (so long as he can hold on to the ball), Holmes (when he comes back from suspension) and Cotchery. Definitely a more complete team than last year.

I think a lot will depend on the Jet's running game. If Shonne Greene struggles or gets hurt and the Dirty One has to throw 25+ times per game,it could get interesting. IMO,the loss of Thomas Jones will be more important than any FA signing or player the Jet's draft..

According to jayson Taylors Agent he's close to being a jet 1 year 3.75m and a option for a second year the Jets now i think have the best team in the AFC East dont belive everyone picking the dolphins imo mainy due to there very spotty defense last year.

Also looks like Ben is going to be out atleast 4 games or More Stellers acquired leftwich from the Bucks ESPN is saying

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5119960

Ben Roethlisberger is expected to be suspended 4-6 games for violating the NFL personal conduct policy, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter.

The suspension will be a minimum of four games. ESPN expects it to be a conditional six-game suspension that can be reduced to four games based on Roethlisberger's behavior and compliance with clinical evaluators. Counseling may wind up being part of the deal, in addition to possible random alcohol testing.

The Steelers were reportedly bracing for an eight-game suspension, so this news may come as a small relief.

If Roethlisberger were to miss four games, he could return to the team after a Week Five bye. Pittsburgh's first four lucky opponents: Atlanta, Tennessee, Tampa Bay, and Baltimore.

Roethlisberger is expected to accept the punishment without appeal, but that hasn't been confirmed yet.

Per Schefter's Twitter:
Adam_Schefter

Pittsburgh has begun contacting teams to trade Ben Roethlisberger for a top 10 pick. At least one team considering it. Story far from done.

Wouldn't be surprised if Buffalo is that team..

Tomorrow is the draft day. Who do you think the Rams will pick #1 overall? Expert consensus is Sam Bradford (QB).
I'm no expert, but IMO it would be a waste. I'd go for Ndamukong Suh. The Rams' O-line is suspect at best, so unless he's gonna spend a year or two in the back up role, he'll end up the next David Carr. And you can't go wrong with a dominating lineman.
The Lions are sitting pretty at #2. If Suh goes #1, they get McCoy. If McCoy goes #1, they get Suh. If Bradford goes #1, Bucs fans should celebrate in the streets.;)

I don't want him in my division. :D

I don't either..The top ten teams in the draft are: St. Louis, Detriot, TB, Wash, KC, Seattle, Clev, Oak, Buffalo and Jax. I cant see St Louis or TB giving up a top 3 pick. Wash, Det and KC have starting QB's. So that leaves Seattle, Clev, Oak, Buffalo or Jax. Who knows what Crazy Al is being told to think out in Oak..Jax is another possiblity..

WAIT WAIT WAIT A SECOND!!!

if Mcnabb got traded for redskins!!!!!!!!!!

then is micheal vick starting quarterback of the eagles!:eek:

ohhhhh He** @#%@%$#! :p

Jason Taylor to the Jets seems so weird, after the guy totally trashed the organization and its fans... and publicly stated he hated the Jets lol. I wonder how the fans react to him. Lets hope he has a good season otherwise it could get really ugly. I think he even lashed out at the New York media once lol... should be interesting.
