...Weinerville

And of course Doug, Alex Mack, 100 Deeds for Eddie McDowd, all the shows they air on Nick GaS now (Games and Sports Network), Rugrats, classics.

Weinerville is the name of the one I was asking about.. thanks! And Yeah, as I entered my last years of watching Nick I did like Alex Mack and 100 Deeds for Eddie McDowd

Im pretty sure these were on Nick, but I dont remember the names.

A family in a SUV is sent back in time/ another dimension to a dinosaur filled land.

Sci-Fi like show with a duck shaped space ship called the "christa" or something like it.

What happened to them?

Hey Duuuuuude!

Hey Dude was the best with Salute Your Shorts a close second, but only the episodes with the original cast.

Wasn't Ben Stiller's wife on Hey Dude? What about the owners son who kept trying to skateboard in the desert! And that token Native American guy? Good times. They don't make them like they used to.

Hey Dude was my favorite show when I was younger, I absolutely loved that show.

Yeah, Christine Taylor (Stiller's wife) was on that show... pretty much everyone else was either in one other thing, or just that show. Heh.

I liked Salute Your Shorts, Clarissa Explains It All and Pete and Pete also..

I'm thinking that Pete and Pete is the only one of those shows that might hold up today (for anything other than pure nostalgia.)

The only DVDs I know of are Seasons 1 and 2 of Pete and Pete and Season 1 of Clarissa Explains it All...does anyone know if/when other classics will be released?

Google them to find the DVDs, but go to ebay (where I found mine) and you can find deals.

Ahh Nick, I miss the 90's when it was still worth watching!
I really miss Round House, Doug, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Wild and Crazy Kids, Salute Your Shorts, Hey Dude!, Pete & Pete, and Hey Arnold!

I don't care what anyone says Rugrats sucked, worst show ever on Nick, I always changed the channel when that show came on.

Those old Nick shows where GREAT! I remember when we built our house, my dad told me to go to my mates house. Came back hours later and he carried me across the garden and showed me A SATELLITE DISH! I swear. back then that was a sign of good TV. Before Sky Digital came along and saturated us with nonsense.

First show was Rocko's Modern Life. Where they go to the fairground. and that was 12 years ago now! Still remember where I sat, what room etc. Brilliant experience.

Pete and Pete!  I loved that show! With that girl who used to stick photos of her old house on her new house. And Arnie, the strongest guy... in the wooorld! and all that ginger too.
Clarissa. Sort of a fan.
Ah. many many memories locked up in there. Dracula! That scared the bejesus out of me! I used to have to look away to remind myself that it wasn't real! At the ripe age of 9/10.

I miss the good old days of nick and disney programming. I was born in 1990, but still remember doug, salute your shorts, and all those classics. I always loved the show mentioned before where the people with the SUV fall into the earth and go back in time. I always thought that there pet dinosaur was so cool.

Everything on now is crap. It is all now so fake looking and unrealistic. Me and my friends always think about those old shows. Doug was such a great show. There was doug, skeeter, pattie mayonnaise, porkchop, beebee bluff, mayor bluff (mayor of bluffburg right?), mr. swirly, principal white, and his sister judy. Don't forget the theme song - chika-pahh-pahh-pahh chika-pahh-pahh-pahh

I still enjoy watching my 14 episodes of Saved by the Bell on my computer.

You Can't Do That On Television, and Double Dare, but I don't think thats on DVD.

edit:forgot about Mr Wizard.
I'm glad someone else remembers these shows!

And someone else mentioned Square One (which was a PBS show, I think). That's another show I grew up with, along with 3-2-1 Contact and even the Electric Company (okay, I REALLY feel old now)

I remember watching Inspector Gadget and one of my favorites Heathcliff on Classic 80's Nick. Remember when Nick would show old Lassie and Dennis The Mennis in the mornings.:p

I remember Mork and Mindy making the rotation too.

Yup. Watched the old Lassie episodes. And I definitely remember the Mork and Mindy episodes on Nick at Night. Used to watch them along with Get Smart every night!

This is what I remember about my Classic Nickelodeon
http://johnnorrisbrown.com/classic-nick/ycdtotv/index.htm
YCDToTV was Nick's biggest hit, and Nick soon began to associate it with the network in every way possible. Nick's famous green slime logo came from YCDToTV (green lime was dumped on everyone's head who said the phrase "I don't know"). Even today, after YCDToTV has been off the air for over a decade, and very few of today's Nick fans have even seen the show (or can't remember it), Nick still uses the phrase "I don't know" to slime celebrities at The Kid's Choice Awards, but gives no credit to YCDToTV.

A line of products was also marketed including green slime shampoo and soap, which was later given away on Nick's hit game show Double Dare which began in 1986.

YCDToTV was best known for it's catch-phrases, which included: "Where does the school board find them, and why do they keep sending them to me?", "Sometimes it's so easy I'm ashamed of myself," "Blue skies.. Barthy Burgers..Girls", "Don't encourage him!", "Duhhh I heard that!", "Who do you think's in the burger?".

I was born in 84 so, I have some late 80's early 90's thing goin on. A show that I always used to watch and could never figure out the name, I just recently found out. It's called the Noozles, it was about Koala Bears and they lived in a place called Koala-Wala Land. Other shows I remember, there was that videogame show, which I thought was the greatest thing ever. And then there's Alex Mack, Doug, Rugrats, Double Dare and probably a bunch of others.

We wasted so much time in front of the tv.

Oh my god! Last week my friends and I were sitting around drinking beer and having some laughs about old skool Nickelodeon.

Someone mentioned the "weird koala show where they went to Koala-Wala Land." but nobody could remember the name. It drove us crazy for the rest of the night.

The classics, in order of greatness.

Salute Your Shorts. Genius. I play Halo as DonkeyLips sometimes.

Doug. The daydream sequences ruled, almost as hard as Skeeter ruled.

You Can't Do That on Televesion. I prayed every night that they would pick my school.

Legends of the Hidden Temple I was would scream at the TV in frustration at the hopelessly confused kids.

Nick Arcade. I really wanted to be on that show.

Hah, that's exactly what we went through, although we were intoxicated in a different way.

Doug, Hey arnold, and Rugrats were some of my favourites, but the best for me had to be keenan and kel, that was classic stuff especially the episode with the lost winning lottery ticket....Good times

Its so true though when watching Nick now (even though i'm nearly 20) it seems as if the shows aren't anywhere near there previous quality, its a shame but at least we got the good stuff while we were young!!

SHadoW

KABLAM!!!!!!!!!!!!

this thread is making me remember the good old days......

its weird how memories are attached to TV shows...

theres a channel on comcast the runs the reruns of double dare, temple, and some other old Nick game shows

its always funny to see the prizes... on family was happy as hell as they won a top of the line VCR....

The Good Old Days (Nostalgia)

It seems like forever ago now...I'm 23 and was born in 1985. Before I even started in school I was a Nick junkie. I watched some of the little kid shows on Nick Jr. in the morning such as:

1) Eureka's Castle
2) Maya The Bee
3) The Little Koala
and a few others that the name escapes me now. One of them was something about an Elephant...and another that was more live action show but I think the name was Fred Penner's Place or some such.

But now to the real meat of what made Nick so great back in the late 80's and early 90's

1) Hey Dude - I loved this show. One of the best shows ever made on any network.
2) Salute Your Shorts - Talk about freakin awesomness this show reeked of it. It had comedy with just the proper mixture of teen angst and stupidity.
3) Welcome Freshmen - Another hilarious show. There was really never any true story line but mostly young high school kids being stuck in random hilarious situations. Stupid yes, but you couldn't /not/ watch this show once you saw the first few minutes of it.
4) You Can't Do That On Television - Really really funny sketch show. For the kids too young to watch or appreciate shows like Saturday Night Live, In Living color and other such shows of that age this was it.
5) Doug, Rugrats, Ren and Stimpy - The beginning of the Nicktoon era was truly a wonderful thing. These three shows were soon joined by Ahhh! Real Monsters which while not quite as good as these three originals was still funny in it's own right.
6) Roundhouse, Are You Afraid of the Dark - The two best shows from the early Snick era. Roundhouse kind of replaced You Can't Do That on Television and had some really awesome dance numbers in it to go hand in hand with all the comedy and awkward situations. Are You Afraid of the Dark? was a great show for people who like urban legends and ghost stories. The Prom Queen was one of my favorite episodes.

Wow for now that's all I can think of but I hope everyone gets some measure of enjoyment from reading all this nostalgia...God I miss those days. Back when you could sit in front of the TV and not see stuff like the commercial that starts out "I have genital herpes..." just stupid...Good wholesome entertainment was what Nick provided in those years and now it's nothing but trendy pop'ish BS that needs to be taken off air, revamped and turned into what it used to be...Darn that MTV.

I used to love Legends of the Hidden Temple, Doug, Clarissa Explains it All, Pete and Pete, The Adventures of Alex Mack, Hey Arnold and many more. As it has been said here, they sure don't make good shows like this anymore! I wish Nick in Aus would bring back reruns of these
