i would be totally into this if i didnt need to carry my iphone with me. that is impossible for me to do. or maybe you dont need to bring it...i dont even know.

are you people casually running or something?

when i run, i am so soaked...there is no way i want my phone anywhere near my body.

i have (had) a shuffle. and it fell victim to the sweat (i am thinking)...i can only imagine if i had my phone.... so for me nike + seems nice ...its just not practical for my routine.

Let's see I bought my Nike+ sensor on 6/22 and even though I messed up my knee like the next day, I've logged 90.77 miles so far... I'm not a pro but I run a bit ;) I use a waterproof pouch and a little running belt with my Moto S9's and I'm a happy runner...

Nike +iphone and music shuffle

With my ipod Nano, I always put the shuffle setting on and run. With the iphone, I'm finding that if you have playlists (I have one specifically for running) the option I have is to play my "running" playlist in the song order within the playlist (alphabetic by the artist), there does not seem to be an option to shuffle the selected playlist.

Am I missing something here?

nope, as far as I can tell you aren't missing anything... I also miss the ability to shuffle just through one playlist. I did notice though that it plays however the songs are ordered in your iTunes. For example I had mine sorted by genre in iTunes rather than artist so that is the order they play on my iPhone. When I got tired of the same songs/same order, I reverse sorted by genre in iTunes (just sorted on genre again) then synced with my iPhone and everything was in the reverse order there too... It isn't shuffle but it is a way to mix the songs up a bit manually...

does anyone know if you can use this whilst playing football? (or soccer to any USA folks)

if tried a couple of times with the sensor in my sock and the phone behind the goal (around 60 yards away at the furthest) and i never seem to get any results.
is this because i need to have the sensor really close at all times? or am i doing something wrong perhaps?

You can hit the home button to get to your home screen, go to your iPod app, turn on shuffle in the now playing area, and tap the top of the screen to return to Nike+. Nike+ runs in the background, so you won't lose any workout data.

I was all set to buy a nike+ sensor until I read about GPS workout programs. I tried Runkeeper and love it. Very accurate, can use it for biking, etc, cheaper than Nike+. The only downside is if you are on a treadmill or in a location that blocks GPS signal.

+1 I love runkeeper. Works great other then you need to be outside for GPS.

I lose connection more than about 3 feet away from the sensor so I think you'll need to invest in an armband case or something if you want to keep track of your activity... Plus it is really a glorified pedometer so the only way you will really get very accurate results is if you are maintaining a steady pace in one direction.. I know almost nothing about soccer/football but I do not think that the activity involved would give you very good Nike+ results :)

Another vote for RunKeeper. No sensor to mess with and it is very accurate. The free version gets the job done and the Pro version gives some more functionality.

During the winter though, I'll be switching to the Nike+ system if RunKeeper doesn't let me add runs through the website. Can't use it on a treadmill and I'll say I'm not going to run outside with snow on the ground!

gutted - not really a jogger, but i thought i'd be able to use it for playing football, never mind. i'll keep trying though you never know!

I have the model before this one that I like...

I used that one when it was cooler last fall, this spring/summer I have been using a running belt pouch and an Aquapak to avoid a huge iPhone shaped white patch on my arm :D
