To be fair, I would be happy if more developers used 'peek and pop'. As it stands, the majority only use it to for the quick menu items from the home screen and then it's completely absent from within the app itself.
Once I started using peek and pop I realized why content blockers are so important. It's great when URLs load instantly. But when you're 'peeking' forever waiting for a page to load it s not so great.

Instapaper is the only app I have that allows you to customize the 3D Touch menu. Other apps need to follow suit to make that feature really take off

Dammit Apple!

Well, I'll just wait for the iPad Air 4 then. :(

Which is exactly what the AAPL manipulators want you to say. You gladly play the roll of pawn in their strategy. Why do you think rumors like this pop up? It’s just a rumor but you have swallowed it hook, line, and sinker. The short sellers are rubbing their hands together in glee. Oh, and the next iPhone will ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack too. If you read it on the Internet it’s true, right?

This seems to be Apples problem with the iPad. Sales stagnate because people hold onto their iPads longer. and with little incentive to upgrade, that trend will continue. My iPad 3 does everything I need it to do right now... as long as I can avoid further iOS updates that slow it down... why bother right now?

EDIT: I said iPad2 but it's really a 3 :)

When does this guy report anything but problems in Apple's supply chain?
From the problems he keep reporting it is a wonder that Apple ever have anything available for sale.
Who is he supplying tips for so that they can short the stock before the tips become public knowledge?
Why else would he keep reporting negatively about Apple? Oh, silly me, he must be working for Samsung/Google.

Apple may be heading to an 18 month upgrade cycle on the iPad. Consumers aren't upgrading them often and (maybe more importantly) Enterprise and Education won't upgrade as often. Specs are not getting that much better that fast anymore.

But, heck, I'm just guessing. So there is that.... :D
I'm saying that even at 18 months maybe to short. Why not wait 24 months. The rumor the iPad Air 3 was delayed was 2 things. Not to hurt iPad Pro sales. The other was 3D touch for it was having production issues. Right now the only thing they can do for it without 3D touch is upgrade the processor to the same one in iPP.

They really can't add Pencil support to iPA3 since that would really hurt iPP. They could add Pencil next fall.

If they don't add 3d Touch, then all the iPA3 can get is a little thinned, smaller battery , a little lighter, A9x, 3GB ram (maybe), and faster touch ID (maybe). All this could have been done when the iPP and mine 4 were released.

Apple has been in FAIL mode for some time, and now its product pipeline is proving it. The iPad Pro is useless without being able to run Mac OS and full Mac apps. It's not a "pro" device if I still need a desktop to finish off that Photoshop illustration that I can only start on the iPad Pro using gimped iOS apps from Adobe. Maybe Apple's Board of Directors should put a visionary into the CEO position - someone who actually cares about the products?

Apple is making more money than ever before and breaks records every quarter. What board in their right mind would change the CEO of the most successful company ever? Just because you don't like the direction they are going doesn't mean Apple is "failing". If anything they are more successful than ever.

so much for consistency between iOS devices!

now we get an iPad with a crappy iOS interface invisioned for a 3.5 inch device without even the latest iOS feature!

(not hating i love my iPad Air 2 but so much wasted potential on a UI like that. ok maybe hating a little)

Because they may make 2 sales instead of just one then ;)
Apple are not stupid.
No. I think declining iPad growth/sales clearly indicates people aren't doing that. It would make more sense for Apple to drop the price on the Air 2 and then release an Air 3 in the fall.

And Apple wonders why they have such trouble selling these things.

One minute 3D Touch is a gimmick the next Apple is being taken to the woodshed because iPad doesn't have it.

Maybe, and I'm guessing again, Apple feels like 24 months is just too long right now. Release too fast and no one feels the need to buy it. Release too slow and the competition moves past you.

Another aspect may be to change up the release cycles just enough to keep the competition guessing. Apple is driving the higher end phone and tablet market right now, so changing up the timing may be a way to make sure their competitors don't out guess them.

If Apple omits a "flagship feature" on any of their new products, I will officially have lost confidence in their future strategy.

I had the hardest time choosing between the 6S+ and the LG V10...

In that Bloomberg article on 3D Touch Jony Ive said things are released whe they're ready, not held back. I'm sure cynics would never believe that but honestly if 3D Touch was ready for iPad Pro why leave it off? It's not like iPad Pro with 3D Touch would cannibalize iPhone sales. And intentionally leaving it off to have something for 2nd gen doesn't really make sense. I'm sure there are a number of people holding off buying an iPad until it gets 3D Touch. Wouldn't Apple rather get that sale now rather than hope they'll get it a year or two from now?

It could be possible that Apple is still figuring out how to implement 3D Touch on a much larger display. Perhaps it added too much weight to the device. Maybe there is a shortage of the Taptic Engine and iPhone gets first priority. Maybe getting 3D Touch to play nice with Apple pencil is a difficult engineering challenge. It seems any one of these is more likely than Phil Schiller saying leave it out so I have something to sell next year.
Maybe my point was not clear enough. If you get essentially the same thing through the pencil or through force touch, then maybe you don't need both. If you are going to provide both, then you need to solve the potential conflicts. Personally I would be good without the 3D/Force Touch and just stick with the pencil, but I am sure there are those that would prefer the Touchy thingy. So Apple will figure out how to integrate both and surprise us.

Hope that makes my statement a bit clearer.

I have the Ipad Mini 2 and I'm considering buying the Ipad air as I want a bigger screen size. However I will only get it if the Ipad Air has 3D touch and will wait until the Ipad Air 4 if need be as I'm not a fan of the Ipad Pro.

The iPad Air 3.

"Everything from last year, just with a new processor."

Seriously, Apple's upgrades in the tablet sector are just... Terrible.

They slapped a fingerprint scanner on the mini 3 and basically said it's worth a $100 upgrade over the mini 2.

Get real, Apple. Build a better tablet. We get the same exact thing year after year.

The report confirms the iPhone 7 will be released in 2016, likely around Apple's usual September timeframe.

NO WAY! The iPhone will be released at the same time of year and on the same release cycle as every single iPhone has been for the past 9 years?!
