I'm predicting:
- A9X with 4GB RAM
- Fast SSD-like storage
- USB 3.0 controller
- Apple Pencil support
- 4 speakers
- no 3D touch
- 16/64/128 GB
- same price points

Would buy one instantly as a replacement for my iPad Air. I hope it is comming in march.

I'd buy one too, if they take care of the screen and chassis vibration problem also. :)

In exact numbers? Only Apple knows. But it is a special size, a special resolution, a special refresh rate. There is nothing standard about any of it. That's why I said that I wouldn't be surprised if it did instead of telling you exactly. And that's why I went into the general knowledge that a good screen makes up the largest part of most tablets these days

In other words, you're making up facts with no actual knowledge while telling me I have no clue... thanks.

It's not a special refresh rate panel that Apple is using, it's a 240Hz LCD panel that already exists... which is what this is and they throttle it via software, which is something that TVs already do. This is a similar, if not the same panel, that is inside the 5K iMac.

BTW LCDs come in sheets that can be cut down to any needed size. So yes, essentially they CAN cut the Pro's LCD in half to put into an Air 3. But since I think I need to explain it to you they'll source from the same sheets of LCDs and cut them down to 9.7 inches, just to spell it out.

So you predict it will be a smaller iPad Pro with different storage sizes?

Which is basically not probable 4GB, and even impossible (i.g: 4 speakers): prediction false ;-).
It may have the A9X but probably not clocked as high.

Pen support though is probable, so is USB 3.0.

Yeah, people don't seem to realize those 4 speakers take a decent chunk of space. Physics is a cruel mistress.

The only thing I hate about my iPad Air 2 is what a fingerprint magnet it is. It's much worse than the previous models I've owned (iPad 2 & Air 1). The fingerprint marks are dark, accumulate fast, and get in the way of proper viewing. They need to address this with the next release, because I don't want to be wiping down my Air 3 as much as I do my Air 2 everyday.

The Pro was even worse... I'm not sure if they skipped putting on the Oleophobic coating or used a different type. But fingerprints on the Pro I had were awful. I hope that doesn't move over to the Air 3.

I love Apple and I own so many stuff from this company, but I also believe in a healthy market. At the moment, the market of smartphones and tablets is not that healthy because Apple is too strong. I wish someday an equal strong competitor appears in the market and stops Apple from holding back new technologies. Competion it's ALWAYS better for consumers.
This post is hilarious !!!! Strong How ?

I think they mean USB 3.0 speeds, like what the iPad Pro can attain using the SD card reader.
IDB notes that there isn't really much of a speed increase though. They suspect that the processor is still the bottleneck here, so it could still be another few generations before usb 3.0 really sees a benefit.

For a casual user. Without really caring about 3d touch or Pencil support, would the Air 2 or even the Air one be suitable for someone who just wants to read magazines and browse the web?

We know that the A9x is a beast of a CPU, but would the A8 be that much a downgrade for the casual user?

I'm debating if I want to pick one up for myself now, or if I should hold off till mid 2016.

Have the Air2, which I use to surf the web and read ePub books. Have no complaints. If you aren't interested in having the latest and greatest, then buy one now and enjoy it now. If you wait, there's a chance you'd be waiting until next Fall.
