Thank you !!! I assume you mean disable in settings and not deleting the Sim?

This is disappointing. I have been using a dual SIM setup (separate work and personal lines in one phone) for as long as it’s been available, and I can’t believe this is true. It feels like something that should have been disclosed before advertising 5G and letting pre-orders go live.

I hope it is as simple as switching one line off until the software patch later and not a hardware limitation. Very confusing !

I’m hopeful but not optimistic. Seems like a “later this year” disclaimer would have been made somewhere. The 4G+4G response seems fairly definitive.

Wait. So if I have a physical sim carrier that has 5G and an e sim that doesn’t allow 5G I can’t have the 5G on the one and the other e sim be regular 4G?

Wth. Um that’s point of duel sim them

I'm still excited for the new phone and 5G. If this truly is temporary I can live with it for a while but that update cannot come soon enough.

Doesn’t make sense, even with two active sims only one data plan is enabled at anyone time...so what’s the issue?

Well the good news is that I hardly leave my house right now so I’m always on WiFi anyway! 🤣

Seems to work fine according to reviewers. Maybe it’s a only regional problem.

Both SIMs are 5G in this review.

While using two lines in Dual SIM mode, 5G data isn't supported on either line and will fall back to 4G LTE. In China, 5G data is supported while using two active lines in Dual SIM mode on the line that's using cellular data. In China, while using Dual SIM with 5G, 5G Standalone isn't available.

So if I turn off 5G on one line in settings will it work on the line that is still active? or do I need to actually remove the Sim?

If you have iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, or iPhone 12 Pro Max, and both phone lines are active, 5G isn't available. To use 5G on these iPhone models, disable Dual SIM mode by turning off either one of your phone lines:
  1. Open the Settings app, then tap Cellular.
  2. Select the line that you want to turn off.
  3. Turn off the switch next to Turn On This Line.
Turn the line back on to return to Dual SIM mode.
