Auto Unlock requires at least a Mac from 2013, so yours isn't supported I'm afraid.I tried to follow what was done in the video but I don't have the box that says allow Apple Watch to unlock my Mac. I have three options -
Require Password
Show a message when the screen is locked
Disable Auto Login
Nothing at all about the Apple Watch.
I have a late 2012 Mac mini.
You know what's funny... I saw the the same pop up for my iPhone after I reinstalled Sierra last night. So this is what I'm seeing when trying to enable Auto Unlock, not sure if anyone else had this?? Anyway, I'm not getting any code to see on my watch... But the window does go away after 10 seconds or so.

Excuse me for the language by the way, it is Dutch. Basically says:
"Link request from: Apple Watch of Tom
Enter passcode that is displayed on the external Bluetooth device."
Again, not receiving any code. Even more strange, earlier today after doing this it didn't do anything. But then, after a minute or two a new window showed up out of nowhere with a code. This is just really weird. Hope that there'll be a quick fix or Apple at least releases a new beta next week or so... xD

EDIT: So guys, I finally got it working! Had to sign out of iCloud and then log back in.
Made a short video:
Mine didn't work for two days and then today when I came home and opened my MacBook it unlocked via the watch. My MacBook had been left on and plugged in so it unlocked when it woke from sleep state.
I rebooted after that and it did not work to actually login to my MacBook. That still asked for a password.
You know what's funny... I saw the the same pop up for my iPhone after I reinstalled Sierra last night.
So came downstairs this morning and it just worked out of no where! Yesterday I did see it attempt to open using the watch but then it came up with the password anyways.
I think it asks for a password on the first attempt after being restarted, just like the phone.
I don't shut down my computer it was asleep. The whole point of that post, if you had read it and the rest of this thread, was that it wasn't working at all. Now it is.
I have a 2012 15" rMBP. I purchased a AC card on amazon a few days ago...should be here today. I will let you know if it works.
Please do. I'm very interested.
It works! I already had 2 factor setup but other then that I popped the card, rebooted and the option showed up. All good.
My auto-unlock option magically reappeared and is working. Strange.
which card did you get?I have a 2012 15" rMBP. I purchased a AC card on amazon a few days ago...should be here today. I will let you know if it works.
Yea, as long as your semi comfortable opening up a laptop. You need a pentalobe to remove the back panel, then a hex to remove the wireless card. Trickiest part is snapping the little antenna sockets back on but even that isn't bad. Thanks!
I'm assuming it's an easy-peasy replacement?
I have an early 2013 MacBook Pro and I don't even see the option. I'm going to be really irritated if they restrict this to the mid 2013 models and forward. There is no reason why this function couldn't have worked on all of the Retina models.
Did you have any luck finding card for 2011MBP?Yah. I have a 2011 MBP. I need to find a similar card that works with auto-unlock.
