It doesn't, of course. I just prefer to have a more immersive experience with the black display surrounding the "black unless active" display. The white doesn't hinder anything, but I think watching movies and media is a slightly better experience with the black bezel. Like a 9.25/10 to 9.0/10 kind of difference.

Considering that will be my main use i will go to a store an evaluate, you may be right about that.

I had a white iPad 2 that was bought as a gift and the border was very distracting. I will never own another white device.

Im currently using a white iphone 4s because my black 4s is away getting repaired... I cant say Im finding that white distracting.

I watch very few videos on mine so I don't find the white distracting at all. It blends in with the light colored backgrounds I see in email, web browsing, magazines, iBooks, and readers like Flipboard. It really is a matter of what you will use the iPad for.

IMO, gold is better.

I thought the gold would be the best too when I was going to check the 5S out but imo the silver still looks cleaner than the gold does. The champagne color is too subtle for my liking. It almost looks like it's been sitting in the sun for a year. I will admit, the silver and gold looks obviously better on the front because of the touch ID having a gold or silver ring around it. That's one thing that disappoints me with the space grey
