I have a Skinomi on the back so that covers the aluminum. That's the only part of the phone I'd be worried about getting scratched. So I just set it down on any surface.

skinomi makes great products, i have it for my iPad mini and also had it on my 5s.

Well, I gotta say mine started peeling yesterday  One of the tabs at the top seems to have caught on my jeans sometime. They have a lifetime warranty so I'm going to look into it and see if it's worth it.

Edit, just checked and they need proof of purchase. I definitely don't have that.

Skins never appealed to me that much for some reason. Perhaps because they made the phone look cheaper, by covering it's expensive looking aluminium.

I can relate to that...have tried a half-dozen skins on the 6+ and only two have looked decent. One is the full body wrap onyx black (pictured) which has a brushed metal texture with horizontal cuts which actually counters the taller profile of this device quite well.

Now if you want the most natural looking skin then the 'back-only' options are great too- they won't protect the sides from scratching but it will add grip & style for sure. My fav for back-only is black leather, altho I found the ones sold by Slickwraps to be cheaper look so bought another brand which didnt have so much texture and looks much more natural.

I usually carry a pillow with a duvet for my phone so that I can take a complete care of it when I need to put it down.

I do this too, but I make sure that there is no potential for any of the quills from the feathers poking through the duvet. Besides inspecting each feather, I double layer the pillow with a 1250 thread Egyptian cotton case and then a silk case made only from Norwegian silk worms.

Will look in to this, thanks for sharing.

on my nightstand I have a cloth. If I lay it down at work or a different table, I just make sure it is clean/no rough imperfections where I lay it.

The camera can't be scratched. Even if you took a rock it wouldn't scratch. So I just lay it right down.

It doesn't wobble until you touch down on certain spots.

I would be more worried about the optical camera lens assembly. Keep in mine that a very tiny group of glass lens are suspended within the camera assembly. I'm not sure what Apple is using to suspend the lens, but it can only take a certain g-force before the suspension mechanism is damaged; rendering the OIS useless.
