Lol

...the looks of the laptop you put in front of yourself when you sit down for coffee is no less important than any other fashion item you have on your person...

How silly I feel - thinking all these years that a laptop was a tool for helping me be productive, not a fashion accessory while I'm surrounding by tacky white plastic power bricks and cords at Starbucks.

(In a Ross voice) "Could you be any more shallow?"

The iPhone 4 is already dated relative to other phones on the market. To have a phone on the market for 18 months without an update is insane.

For you maybe...

To me the iPhone 4 is then some and more compared to other mobiles out there.

I bought my iPhone4 in September (12 month contract). If I owned any other platform for this length of time, i.e the last BlackBerry phone I had, I would be itching to upgrade, but like someone else said, this phone still seems fresh to me like the day I bought it.

I still believe we will have an iPhone 5 this summer.

The preview the new iOS, and release the new version of iOS in the fall maybe.

I'm confident for the iPhone 5 ;)

Give me a break. They dominate portable devices, and they lag in anything that sits in the office or at home. Besides, you know damn well how much of a selling point the design (the look and feel) is for MacBook Pros and iMacs (Plus, MacBook Pros should be considered portable too, at least here in NYC (possibly the biggest market for Apple) the looks of the laptop you put in front of yourself when you sit down for coffee is no less important than any other fashion item you have on your person. No one in their right mind takes out an HP, and you know it's not for the lack of the computing power)

One, my point had absolutely nothing to do with the design of the devices, I don't even see why you would bring that up in a discussion of whether or not they are gaining market share. And two, my point was that year over year, they sell more desktops and laptops then they did previously, and thats all I said

I truly feel sorry for people who are that shallow. I learned a long time ago that function comes a LONG LONG time before form. I will gladly take my dell to the coffee house and laugh at people who greatly over paid for what they need.

Please note I am not talking about spec for spec. Any extra power paid for over what they needed is considered waste.
I want/needed a 15 in computer with an i7.
I paid 1500. Apple cost well over 2 grad to meet my same needs/requirements.
tell me who is laughing now.

I call people who buy Apple to "look cool" losers and idiots. Buy an Apple produce for the right reason, for example you like OSX better. Not because you think it just looks prettier.

Forget it. I was going to wait to buy the Verizon iPhone 5, but im eligible for an upgrade now and I don't feel like waiting until fall. I guess i'll be ordering the iPhone 4 on Verizon soon!

Is this an attempt at some sorta self-consolation or something? Well, did it work for ya?

No, it's a poke at people who think that their laptop is a status symbol at Starbucks.

Even though those same people at Starbucks don't realize that they have tacky white plastic power cords and power bricks that advertise "my laptop's battery is too weak to last through a cup of coffee".

Here's a wacky thought. Why not let Apple tell us whats going on when they are good and ready instead of a huge argument from a bunch of people (myself included) who have as much knowledge on the iPhone 5 as a paper bag.

They have been doing this for years...I'm pretty sure they know what they are doing.

GAWD An actual sensible post!

Here's my take in this..

This year Apple has been more secure about the iPhone 5, and hence frustrated people who don't have anything to say about the next iPhone are spreading rumors that there won't be an iPhone 5 this year, since they're not getting any leaks!

Has Apple ever said on their WWDC invites "come see the new iPhone"?

I'm not ruling out an iPhone 5 until the actual event ends.

Two things I am considering here. #1- yes, we are used to a "trend" of a hardware update for the iPhone once a year, around the WWDC. Does that mean it has to happen...well, obviously not! #2- I do tend to agree with many out there that are saying, in the scheme of things and vs. competitors- anything past a year (without a "new" iPhone device) could result in losing SOME people to other products.

I tend to think that if you have an iPhone user that has been waiting for the next iPhone (5 or 4GS...whatever's next)... I doubt that most of those people are going to jump ship all the sudden to go to another operating system or device (JMO).

I also tend to lean towards... if it's not going to be within a year (the usual June/July), then it's probably pretty good for iPhone users and might mean an entirely new design... MIGHT. It will be worth it... Trust me, I am 3G user and have been waiting for this phone for awhile... not because I have predicted what will be on it, more so because I bought the 3G late and "That" device is done (but I got another 3G lender in the mean time... and no "new" activation fee for doing it). I was looking forward to getting on a better cylce of upgrading. So, if the new iPhone is in the Fall, then I'll be okay going beyond 6 months outside of my original 3G 2-year contract.

IMO, all these smartphones are pretty comparable- it's the systems in which they work on. I think once you learned one or experienced one, you are going to tend to want to stay with that. Not everyone, but the majority of Americans are like this. We will find out about the next iPhone come WWDC, and then people will make decisions from there. I don't anticipate a "major" jump of former iPhone users to Droid, or Windows devices.
