Oh snap . . . a non storage device that isn't portable or feature any external controls . . . yes, you have me on that one. :D

SCNR ;)

but i side with the 'macbooks don't come with headphones either'
and i'd put the iPad (even though it runs iOS) far closer to a macbook than to an iPod touch ;)

Interesting. Why do you feel it's closer to a Macbook than a Touch? Is it merely the size of the screen?

it's because the iPad has a wall charger, since some computers are unable to charge the iPad

other Apple products just come with a usb and headphones

therefore they probs cut out the headphones to add in the charger

They really need to start adding headphones. I use them everyday with my ipAd.

The iPad needs headphones way more than the iPhone does.

I think it's fair to say this because the iPad encourages you to indulge in all the media apps more because of the bigger screen. And I don't know about u guys but my family doesn't really want to hear everything I watch on iPad when we are in the livin room watching tv.

The iPad has to rank as one of the most succesful new tech devices in the last decade or so. I think that expresses a more accurate judgement than any individual's personal opinion of what they should - or shouldn't - have put in the box.

wow, you seem to think Apple can do no wrong and that we, as mere consumers should just wait with bated breath for anything apple puts out and buy it without question and with mindless acceptance. from the tone of many of your posts, we should let Apple decide what they should give us with the ipad. we don't know any better and apparently don't have the right to expect more.

i'm waiting for one of your posts to say that you've petitioned the Vatican to proclaim Steve Jobs was a saint. oh wait, i just remembered...you can't do that yet until Steve is dead. but i'm sure you've got that letter all ready now at a moment's notice.

the ipad is one of the most successful tech devices because of its versatility, its features, and its timing in the marketplace, not because Apple decided not to include earphones as an accessory with the tablet.

it would have been nice for Apple to include a pair.

i commute to work in NYC each day and i use earphones along with lots of people. the distinctive white and gray of the Apple earbuds are everywhere as lots of people have ipods and iphones. i accidentally left my only [apple] pair behind in the hotel room on the last morning of a ski trip. had to buy a replacement pair when i got back to the city.

Mostly I use headphones (w/ a built in mic) on the iPad so I can do video calls. Just like I don't use my cellphone on speakerphone mode, I don't like dooing video calls with the speaker. For this reason I see the combo headphones as being useful. They could have included these especially since Apple advertises the front facing camera to be used with FaceTime.

Shaved 19 cents off their costs.

x1 billion ipads is a lot of money

1 billion iPads?? Like 25 million at most.
