Is anyone else having this issue? We upgraded to iPhone 11s. All bluetooth audio works fine in our car except for "Hey Siri". "Hey Siri" itself works fine, but no audio comes out of the speaker. It displays on the screen only. I've reached out to Apple and wiped and restored my phone several times and upgraded to the latest version, but nothing.

The biggest clue I have so far is that I see duplicate output options for my car when I try to route the "Hey Siri" audio after my first attempt. If I picked the duplicate I can get "Hey Siri" to work once and then it reverts. My other phone exhibits the same behavior. My teens iPhone XR works fine.

Apple support has told me that if wiping the phone and setting it up as a new phone doesn't fix it then I'll have to wait for it to be fixed in later updates. Not really an acceptable solution when you spend a lot of time in your car driving for work and can't utilize one of their main hands-free features,

Thanks to anyone who can crack this.

I noticed this the other day. Thought maybe I didn’t hear the response because the mute key was enabled. Haven’t tried it again yet.

I am having the same problem with an iPhone 11 Pro on our Mercedes E350 connecting via Bluetooth. My wife, who has an iPhone XS, does not have the issue.

Also posted here.

I experienced this today as well; connected to Bluetooth in the car and was playing music and “Hey Siri” didn’t work at all. Was super weird and haven’t tried to diagnose or fix it but would be cool to know if this is a known issue that can be fixed.

A workaround:

Using the side button to activate Siri worked for me. I didn’t have to disable “Hey Siri”, just configure the side button to activate Siri in settings.

I am having the same problem with my iPhone 11 Pro Max. It is driving me crazy. Hey Siri will activate Siri, but I can’t hear anything Siri says.

It is happening to me too. iPhone 11 Pro Max and Ford Transit Connect. Apple tech told me they changed something in the phone that doesn’t allow it anymore. I want it back!

They need to fix it. The whole reason why I use it in the car so it’s hands free...Isnt that one of the important reasons? When i say Hey Siri and don’t say anything until she says ‘yes,’ then make my request (call, directions, etc) it works. If I say it continuously like normal, it seems normal but hangs up a couple seconds later. This is over bluetooth. Never had this issue with my X. I called about it about a month ago but at that time I hadn’t updated yet so I waited thinking maybe that were the issue. I saw on the developer page they’re talking about it and writing it up.

Same issue with iPhone 11 and RAV4. No issue previously with iOS 13 and iPhone 7, although I typically used home button to invoke Siri. Side button much less convenient, but does work. I too noticed the duplicate car outputs as previously described.

I’ve never installed beta versions, but was desperate to have Hey Siri work on my car audio again so installed iOS 13.3.1 public beta and voila! It now works again in my 2014 Traverse! So happy!

I've been having this issue as well. When I called Apple last week, they said this is a known issue with iPhone 11/Pro/Max and all I could do is wait for a software update. A frustrating answer for sure but i hope the latest update really fixes it!

The new production update 13.3.1, released Wednesday, does fix the issue.

When hey Siri is used with car Bluetooth audio- should it work hands free.
I've never experienced hands free Siri working.

I have found that the “hey Siri” is only heard through the microphone on the phone and will not activated with the phone in my pocket. so I lay the phone on the dash so the mic is exposed. That works.

Thanks my situation is User Error as I since read that iphone has to be connected to power before handsfeee Siri works.
I'll re try when I'm in car, hopefully usb cable to Stereo is enough power.
