sure there is, I’m one of them. I’m sure there are plenty of others too. This isn’t 2009 any longer where Android is slow, laggy, prone to crashing and cheaply made,. Plenty of high end Android phones to choose from these days. You are crazy to think Apple is the only game in town.
One out of how many million customers? LOL you’re the only one whining.

You can dip for the competition. Apple will live.

To many people here Apple is the only game in town because it’s essential to their flow.
If I’m interested in the iPhone 12 Pro I’m not switching because it’s delayed. I have too much going on with my iPhone IPad iMac MacBook Air and so do many others here.
But if you need new kit right now and can’t wait go get something else.

Dex is following in the tradition of a long line of rage posters who were convinced that their decision not to buy a certain product would mean the end of Apple Inc.

From the new reports today saying the launch event won't even happen until late Oct, that puts the lower end iPhone releases in mid Nov and the Pro models not until Dec. WTF is wrong with Apple? Why can Samsung and every other manufacturer get their phones out right on schedule? Im about to trade in my 11 Pro Max for a Note 20 Ultra this week. Apple really screwed this one up.

So a month or 2 delay is going to make you jump ship ? Really ?

Mind, Apple doesn’t guarantee release dates for customers on IUP and as far as I recall, the contract says you’re upgrade eligible after *at least* 12 months worth of payments, not that you only need to pay for exactly 12 months.

Its 12 PAYMENTS, not 12 months. After the first 6 payments, you can pay the balance of the remaining 6 and get a new phone. Either way, the least Apple can do is make exceptions for those of us on the trade up program who were expecting to have an iPhone 12 a few weeks from now, not 2-3 months from now. We should get credited however many payments past Sept we have to make because of their screwups and not launching their new iPhone on time.

Apple doesn’t have a set date yet. It’s all about how fast they can manufacture them. This year there is a big variable..the pandemic. If everything stays under control late Oct or November is likely. They’re already manufacturing them

Yup. When Samsung, Huwaei, Oppo and everyone else can get their phones out on time and Apple cant
When you say Apple cant, are you implying that Apple are talking hypocritically or sanctimoniously as a matter of course?
If Apple announced today that the next iPhone will be released on the 5th September, and then didn't release it, then your original statement would be right, but as no date is officially set, and Apple have set precedents with their iPhone releases, then you can't suggest they are not on time.

Stop blaming the stupid pandemic. Ive already pointed out multiple times that Samsung, Huwaei, Oppo and all the rest have gotten their phones out on time, and they use the same suppliers. Its Apples fault and its pure incompetence that makes them look like amateurs.

Now I see where the anger stems from. It's just another IUP member that thinks that the program guarantees them a new phone every year after EXACTLY 12 payments and NO more.

What I don't understand is the problem they have with making payments for the extra months, past 12, that they are STILL USING their current phone. You use it, you pay for it. Why are the first 12 payments OK but anything beyond that is unacceptable? If money and paying for more than half of the phone's worth is a concern, then the IUP is not the program for you.

You'd be way further ahead by buying the phone outright and selling it after a year. By doing this you can sell it whenever the shiny new iPhone comes out, no matter what the release date, and you can sell it for well over half of what you paid for it. Less money for the yearly usage of the phone and no worries about release dates. In the end it's a win/win.

Can't afford to buy an iPhone outright? Then I guess the IUP is an option BUT you have to go into it knowing the possible "negative" issues you might face.

False. Samsung Doesn’t mutually share the same suppliers as Oppo and Huwaei. As a matter of fact, Samsung uses their own displays for their smart phones and logic board, whereas Oppo/Huwaei were using LG displays from previous models.

Its Apples fault

Actually, that’s also false given no one could’ve projected how the world had to conform in such a short amount of time. Even if Apple were to deflect the blame due to the pandemic, it doesn’t stop the fact that a delay doesn’t sway consumers minds. A smart phone is the last thing that somebody would need to upgrade given the economic recession and regarding upgrading members, I’m sure Apple will have some type of remedy in place to off-set any ‘inconvenience.’

As I accurately stated before, Most are not just tied to an iPhone, there’s some type of other product in their household as a sub-accessory like the AirPods, HomePod, Apple Watch, that have consumers immersed into place enjoying the experience that iOS provides them versus such a limited draw that android does not.

Serious question not trying to pick at things.
But did the rest of the factory’s close as long as Apple? I know in the US the Apple stores have been closed way longer than other retail stores. As if they were taking their employees safety a little more seriously. I wonder if other places opened factory’s in China faster? Also is Samsung make in Korea? Seem like they were a little more on top of things all together.

Let us know how you like it.

Did this myself on Tuesday. It was a painful switch, their Smart Switch software to migrate all my data doesn't work with iOS 14 betas (yet) so I had to setup everything from scratch. Not fun, but most "normal" users won't have this problem.

It's no secret, but Samsung is so far ahead of Apple in terms of features. It doesn't have that Apple aesthetic, but they've come a long way since I tried Android years ago and their UI is pretty slick. In-screen fingerprint scanner is something I don't think I can do without now.

120hz is noticeable, for me anyway, my wife's iPhone looks dated now when I'm scrolling through things.

Android Auto is probably my biggest gripe, CarPlay is SO much better. AA puts limits on what you can do while in motion, doesn't let you FF music (you have to use voice to fast forward, absolutely ridiculous).

Every challenge I've run into with Android, they have a workaround, it's just a painful switch at first. Example my shared calendar, had to setup a Google calendar and share this with my iOS members and sync everything through Google Cal. Apple's native Mail app is pretty good, but there are plenty of options in the Play store that make worthy replacements, just have to find the one that works for you (I went with Nine). I miss iMessage, but not as much as I thought. With WiFi calling and options like Whatsapp, it's not that big of a deal anymore.

I look at the upgrade programs as a hassle-free way to sell/trade in the old phone with a known, fairly OK trade in value (40-50% of MSRP). Not the highest one could get but at least decent. The extra payments lowers the effective trade in value and changes it from an OK deal to a bad one.

That said, I realize Apple makes no release date guarantees hence I've targeted Nov/Dec for mainstream iPhone upgrades. Quite fortuitous given the unexpected delays this year.

I am personally too invested in the apple ecosystem to switch(and who wants google peeking over their shoulder?) and have too much real life stuff to do, to be worrying about WHEN(not IF, because it WILL happen)I get my new iPhone. It will get here when it gets here. With any luck the extra time spent means we are getting a better product. Instead of one that was rushed out to meet some silly deadline.

Factories returned to full production in late March because the pandemic was taken seriously. The current delay isn’t due to production, it’s due to Apple’s decision to design their own 5G antenna instead of using Qualcomm’s.

Thanks. I wasn’t sure.

wow, I’m on a iPhone 7 Plus. I feel your struggle, I really do, it is a terrible state of affairs of a manufacturer doesn’t update its phone on time so you can’t replace your latest and greatest phone with a slightly new greater phone. The pain is real, but you must be strong.

I can only imagine how much my life would have to change for me to get to the point of being THAT upset about an iPhone release not happening when I want it to.... How boring, uneventful, un-fulfilling does one's life have..

OK I'll stop.
very true

I think he must be someone who doesn’t watch much news. Amazon forest burning, depresses me. California fires does. Wild animals like elephants and lions killed by trophy hunters for jollies makes me weep at the senseless of it. Chinese and Japanese fishing new parts of the world to extinction, angers me. A iPhone delayed, isn’t on my list to be upset about.

You need some cheese with this whine?

Holy heckballs you sound very entitled by creating this thread.

Apple owe you squat - they have never ever stated that anything will be released annually or any other time. Just because there used to be what was seen to be a schedule doesn’t mean there always will be.

Also, dunno if you noticed, but there’s a pandemic going on which effects each manufacturer differently...

So, when it’s ready it’s ready.

If you planned your existence on the falsehood that a new iPhone would be released every September, then that is ALL on you and only you.

In addition you also only have yourself to blame if this then causes any form of personal hardship.

When you're ready to switch back to the iPhone because you hate the Samsung, we'll be here. I did the same thing with the Note 10+ and was quickly reminded after a couple weeks why I still use the iPhone. It's a gorgeous phone with flashy features, but they wear off fast. Once the high refresh rate arrives this year with the new iPhones I don't really have another feature I care all too much about that the iPhone doesn't already do. The Samsung is even more annoying than typical Androids because there is literally a Samsung alternative app alongside every single Google one, including the terrible Bixby assistant. There are ways to map Bixby to default to the Google Assistant, but the phone requires a lot of fudging just to get it the way you want. They even have a terrible Samsung store. Samsung is desperately trying to be their own thing ... and they just need to embrace Google's features instead of replacing every single one with their own. It creates a mess. They are absolutely beautiful phones, but there is a lot to hate about them.
