I agree Hogfaniga.
Working freelance can be really rewarding, but the only way to succeed is to be careful about what you spend money on. I personally cannot justify spending so much more on a MBP just to get firewire when the rest of the features on the MacBook are sufficient for me (my main machine is a Mac Pro, so the 'if you dont buy a MBP you're not professional' argument means nothing to me).
It's not a case of whether I can afford it or not, if I need a MBP I will get one, but just because I have some money now, doesn't mean I will tomorrow so I'm not going to splurge!
I really can't believe so many people are arguing that the MB shouldnt have firewire. I agree that most people don't use firewire regularly if at all, but it's like saying "most people are able bodied so there's no need to help those who aren't" - putting a ramp in for access doesn't hinder able bodied people and makes those less fortunate to gain access to areas and improves society as a whole. I know this is extreme, but putting firewire in doesn't hinder those who never use it but allows those who do to continue using the products they love. When looking at it from this perspective, I can't see why people should argue against firewire.
