iPad Pro No more 11” iPad Pro?

Still no mention of an 11” among the devices getting mini-LED, which makes me think it’s not happening... Even the iPad mini and 8th gen sizes are listed among the devices that will get it. Do you think they’re really going to discontinue the 11” Pro and wait for a mini-LED on the next Air (which won’t be out for awhile), effectively replacing it with the Air lineup?

The price increase we saw on the Air and all these reports failing to mention an 11” makes me curious.

The 12.9" might just go first, with the 11" not getting it until the next refresh? Sort of like how the Air was updated this year but the mini wasn't, when they were at parity from the 2019 update. I agree it's a bit of a weird strategy to withhold what will probably be the flagship feature of the next pro from one size variant though.

Take the prediction with grain of salt. Doesn’t make sense the cheapest models getting mini-LED along with the Pro model. Also cheapest ones sell in higher volumes. Unless Apple uses this as justification for increasing the prices on the regular iPads.

I could see them killing 11" and then making the "Pro" tier 12.9" and 15" instead. But considering this is Apple then my bet is that they copy the iPhone 12/12Pro strategy and release two nearly identical products but with significant price differences for the faux-Pro profits.
The 11in pro is not going anywhere. Apple even went through the trouble of making the air 4 10.9 to differentiate it. There will be a 3rd gen 11in pro and honestly given how little apple can improve on the pro other than putting a A14x inside it, I guess mini led is needed. But even if not, they have already upgraded an ipad (8th gen) with just the SOC, so it's not impossible, but unlike IMO

If they discontinue the 11" iPad Pro, I will not be happy.

I don't see Apple discontinuing the 11" and two leakers have already referred to two iPad Pros. I think Apple might increase the sizes by .5 inch or maybe 1" or maybe just increase the size of the 11".

Increasing the size by very much might p*** off people who bought the far-from-cheap Magic Keyboard. Or it might dissuade them from upgrading.

That's not saying they won't do it, just thinking about other things they might consider.

Maybe 12,9” iPad Pro and 15” iPad Pro Max? 🤔
To be honest as an 11” iPad Pro owner, I would not recommend 11” IPP over the iPad Air 4 currently.

Yep, I get this very same feeling. Probably grow the screens larger but keep the actual size the same to allow it to use the same size accessories like Magic Keyboard etc... I fully expect to see something like a 11.5inch iPad Pro at some point or maybe 11.2inch, something that allows them to slim the bezels without growing the overall footprint by much, I guess this is also dependent on them shrinking the FaceID hardware.

I hope that 11" is not discontinued.

The first generation iPad Pro 9.7" was released 6 months after the launch of 12.9". So maybe 11" mini led would be launched sometime after the launch of 12.9" mini led.

In the middle of several books.
What do you base that on? I personally always expected the 11 to sell at more units but have no real world sales data.
I don’t have any hard facts either. That is why I said I think. All I have been able to do is observe here and ask at the Apple Stores when I have gone, as well as the man on the street. Probably still not accurate but, it would be interesting to see the sales specs.

I just ordered a NEW Ipad Pro 11 " TRaded in my 10.5 Pro ( 2017 ) Got almost 400$ on trade I paid 400 new in box a few years ago. I figured I would pull trigger now , so If one day the 11 Pro is gone with out notice I'm good for the newt few years. I was loving the 10.5 Pro but I dont want to loose out getting the new 11 Pro if they make it go away with the new Mini Led 12.5 ,, Seems like they left the 11 to die a slow death..

Wouldn’t the technology be ready for a smaller display before a larger one? Just look at the Apple Watch and iPhone. The iPhone got oled a full two years after the watch. The same goes for the first retina MacBook Pro then the retina iMac. I seriously doubt Apple would jump straight into a new screen technology on such a large device.

Well on the thread that was on here with 1800+ responses the 11 and 12.9 were pretty much split down the middle.

Same. He is probably basing it on Kuo's recent rumours. I have no sales data, but always felt the 11"/10.5 sold better than the bigger Pro. Just a hunch because the 11" is so much more practical.

Which smaller device should they transition to MiniLED? If the watch and iPhone are already OLED, they won't move them to MiniLED. The only product where it makes sense is the iPad lineup then.

It ain't going away so soon. Even if Apple stops selling it officially in another year or so, they would still sell refurb through their website and NOS through third party stores.
