Two answers:
1. One persons foreign is another persons home :p
2. Note the smilies, I was joking, no insult meant. I always spell check, using my British English spell-checker. It only finds an error if I spell it "generalization", but I suppose I live in a foreign country ;)

cool, sorry to be so rude, i do realize everyone is not an american. I lived with a Scot while i was on tibet of whom was the best flatmate I ever had. Sorry to come back with guns a blazing. The point I was trying to make was that I spent countless hours trying to get standard programs to work on the hacked os's with not much luck. I'm typing on my ipod touch so forgive any mispellings I make. Cheers

No problem, I'm glad we got that sorted :)

no computer problem ok??!!
yes u are completely right milion of people have similar problems...and in your view the guilty is the dumb people and computers.correct??

Lets see, iPod to computer, well there is a problem. It is totally possible for a computer problem. You can not expect people to help you if you don't give all the information. How do we know your not running on a Win machine, how do we know you have the correct version of iTunes, we can't help if we don't know what you have.

Also try being less rude, it's not a good way to get good help.

All this unless you just wanted to complain.

now THAT'S common courtesy! Yaaaaaaayy!!! Hey, whingy 5 year old thread starter: That's how you do it!

if its asking you to install iphone software, then just do it.

Its built into itunes, so I imagine, updating to the latest version of itunes should do it, I'm guessing that your version of itunes has no idea what an iPod touch is.

and this is apples fault, damn them for not building a crystal ball into itunes, i expect my iphone to work with itunes 2, but that is just me.

if this is not the case, and you do have the most recent version, then I suggest that you try restarting with the ipod plugged in.

if not, then I would guess that there is somthing wrong with your computer, as this is the first I am hearing about it, I doubt that it is the ipod, after all, apple products do have a reputation of functioning better than the rest of the PC market.

If you want further help in getting your iPod working, please answer the questions of people who are taking time out of their day to help you, we are NOT apple, we are not getting paid for this, we are just trying to help you get your iPod to work.

and welcome to MacRumors, I hope that we can help you with your proablems, just remember that we cannot help you if you dont want to be helped, and rather just want to come here to complain, we are not here to complain, or listen to complaints, we are here to ask questions, and solve proablems

Best,

ITUNES ASK ME FOR THE IPHONE SOFTWARE WHEN I PLUG IN THE IPOD TOUCH

It must be Windows.
The instructions clearly say to install your software / drivers before you plug in your iPod. I would assume that since there were no drivers, itunes started, but your comp had no idea what an iPod was. Your comp probably recognized it as a mass storage device, and iTunes didn't see an "iPod" so nothing happened

windows xp sp2

i think u dont understand...IS NOT THE COMPUTER. ok??

RIGHT MATE! - Enough with the attitude on the forums ok, people are trying to help.

First of all - iPod's are APPLE products that work flawlessly apart for some iTunes problems on a Mac. So they might have some problems on a PC - which is the computer you have.

Secondly - iPhone Software Update for iPod Touch v.2.0 is what APPLE named the OS X Update for iPod Touch. So install it and get used to it. EVERYBODY has that, so don't just bite our heads off when we are trying to help. I think we all can see that your angry.

Thirdly - Does it occur to you that you might have a virus?

So next time, cool off before you make a furious post on here. Or people will not help you.

Now, :D, since I read page 1 (if there are more), and half way down the page, I wrote this, but If someone has bitten back at the appalling attitude brought out by the OP, I'm sorry. :D:D
