I like the idea of a mini- better fit in my hand and pocket, but in real life the extra screen size on a max is so useful!I'm on the other end of the spectrum and would prefer to buy a pro mini as, to me at least, phones are something I use while on-the-go and I'm not exactly going to watch videos or play games while I'm out. I do think there's a big market for a 14 non-pro Max though. Many of the 20-somethings I know from work use their phone as their primary device, with a good number not even owning a computer!
iOS 15.4 has the ability to do Face ID with a mask on.They should put Touch ID back to cheap iPhone 14 and let the pro has Face ID. A lot of people like me living in a city that must wear mask in public and it is stupid to input passcode in a crowded subway train.

That is true, but I think it's a good assumption that it will be that way for the 14 as well. In fact if the mask-plus-Face-ID issue is a real problem for a user that currently has an X or 11, then that would argue in favor of getting a 12-14.Only for iPhone 12 13
I’m sad that the new design of the iPhone 14 will not include a mini - which would’ve been PERFECT since the iPhone 4/4S design carried to influence the iPhone 14 heavily would’ve worked best on a mini iPhone.Solid source confirms there will be no Mini but a new cheap Max version. I would like it since I want bigger screen but not the price and weight of Pro Max, and I don’t need the third camera. How about you? Would you buy Cheap Max 14?
Yeah 13 Pro is too heavy, Pro Max is for heavy weight lifter
But how much "lighter" do you think a 14 Max (non pro) would become?
Let's have a look at the last aluminum-phone beeing about the same size as a todays max: The iPhone 8 Plus.
The 8 Plus weighs 202 grams. And it is even a little bit smaller than a Max (less hight).
If I had to take a guess on the 14 Max's weight, I would put it somewhere around 220 grams, maybe 215g at best.
That's far from beeing a lightweight phone if you ask me![]()
Any chance Apple will just keep selling the iPhone 13 mini and not update it for a long while? They put a lot of engineering and dollars into developing the mini, perhaps they will keep selling it to get their costs back and only make changes to the phone every few years. Like they do with the SE now. Thoughts?
Highly unlikely. The engineering cost is shared with the regular size iphone, so not for solely the mini. Plus with the mini, Apple has just increased the regular iphone price by $100 without anybody noticing, and they made a boatload of money out of the sales of the iPhone 13. So the R&D cost has probably been well recouped and more.Any chance Apple will just keep selling the iPhone 13 mini and not update it for a long while? Revised my prediction:
iPhone 13 Mini $599
iPhone 14 $699
iPhone 14 Max $799
iPhone 14 Pro $999
iPhone 14 Pro Max $1099
Nah. Why would Apple drop the regular iPhone price after painstakingly increasing it via the mini?Revised my prediction:
