I hope so...

Nah, I would say August or September and then maybe another in January and February, I think Apple is going to be doing more frequent updates to keep up with Intel

... as that means attention to the MBP!:D Sadly, I believe that Apple's engineering focus is squarely on the iphone. Any bump in 2008 will be speed only. :apple:

My guess is that they will release it after the back to school rush. If they are in the midst of updating the macbook, they've probably stopped building the current models for retail.

I know, the iPhone has been taking a lot away but I would be fine without a redesign just as long as we get the new processor (which has a a lot)

Good Point...

now Apple have brought back white and black plastic to the iPhone, do we think we'll still see aluminium macbooks? I'm ready for buying when the UK education iPod thing comes back!

I bet you're right! I'm not going to sweat it now. Frankly why should they make it look like the Pro... if the MB got a new case and graphics card who would bother spending the extra for a Pro??

that's exactly what i was thinking!
if they did go aluminum it would take away from the mbp and the mba. if the products are too similar, the general public would go for what is cheaper and more practical. this all becomes very interesting and time will only tell...darn apple always making us wait around guessing!

I agree. I hope this update will help them shift their attention back to the Macs.

Yeah I know about the later updates, but I am going to be leaving to Europe later this month and need a laptop, so what should I do?

I'd go ahead and buy a Macbook if that is what you are interested in, because there is no way the update will be out any earlier that July 15th.

They are two different products. But i won't rule out that possibility. However, my choice of buying a macbook was clear. I just need a machine that will just do my work fine. MBP functionality was too overwhelming for me...so i just dont need it now. :apple:

So since they have the back to school promo running logic would dictate that we would not see an update until after its over witch means not till September 16th witch is the first Tuesday after the promo ends according to this news release.

https://www.macrumors.com/2008/06/0...hool-promo-free-ipod-touch-with-mac-purchase/

These promos are ushaly done at the end of a modles life so either itouch is getting some majore changes or the macbook is or maby both.

So that is 3 months away and just after the school rush witch will give them the opertunity to clear out as much of the old stock so they can push a refreshed though i dont think there is going to be any huge drastic changes might be a bit thinner and hopefully LED.

I dream of apple making a 10inch touch internet tablet especualy with the new atom prcessors so it can be a almost compleatly sealed unit like the itouch and iphone and should not get to hot. Hopefuly with a removable battery but i dout i will be seeing this any time sooon so its going to be macbook motiv and then probaly anouther macbook then hopefully my tablet.

So for all you waiting for the next Macbook update September 16th would be the most logical conclusion or a Tuesday after September 15th.

Why do people complain when, after they buy a MacBook/Whatever, the line gets refreshed? You buy the machine for what you need it for. If you're going to keep on hanging around for Apple to make a all new special OMIGAH MacBook for the same price as the current ones, then you'll be waiting for quite a while. See, I've got my C2D MacBook, and I've got a G5 iMac. They both do what I need them to, and I'll only buy a new model of each if they break.

It's all about spacing up what you want, and what you need.

I agree on that estimate. That's why I'm waiting on purchasing a current MB until that date. I figure a refurbished one at that point will be a bit cheaper and it does what it says on the box, which is what I need. Besides for me, I don't need the new new new version, I just need something better than my very old iBook G4.

People keep on saying September but I disagree.... I think that's too long of a wait to get on the market with the new processors, for Apple (and Intel) the sooner they get that processor out on the market the better because companies like Dell and HP are waiting to put the processors in their new computers so why wouldn't Apple want to be a little ahead of the game as usual. Two months after the announcement is way to long in the tech industry. I think you should look a little closer to July 14th

I thought it was a new chip set that was combing out witch has been delayed to like the end of June by the FCC. Also that the next new CPU is not out till early next year though I do not follow this stuff to closley. I would not complain if they updated it pre september that would mean free itouch with my mac book. This dose not seem that likely. Especialy since they did that little CPU bump. Fingers crossed

I see what you are saying, but I think people are frustrated when they just get a new model just out then pretty soon there is a refreshed model out there. I suppose this is just the way Apple works so I agree with you on the "if you need it now get it now...if you're looking for a new model when they come out, and keep putting it off your going to be waiting a long time"

It's not just the way Apple works, it's the way any electronics manufacturer works. If you haven't noticed Dell, HP and Sony doing this, you haven't been paying attention. It's how they make money and keep technology moving forward.

Ok, so I was technically wrong. I just said people complained because new updates come out quite soon so people wished they had waited, thats all.
