[rant\]not many here see to realise that the current line of pro machines will probably satisfy the most demanding of your tasks, just buy the damn thing if you need it!if you dont need it, you probably dont need its power, so dont complain that there were no updates! the pro line is good! there will always be a better one a few months down the line anyway, so you will not be on top for long.....i would just drop out of the tech race and buy when you have a legitimate reason; in this world, money is too valuble to throw away just for the sake of having the latest and greatest consumer products. people end up broke that way......its like spending £40,000 every time the new model BMW/ Merc comes out....there is no point! You just made my argument for me. I'm not asking for anything more than fair play.

That new BMW you talk about... if a more powerful engine comes out, for example... it's usually debuted in the TOP MODEL first, and then gets filtered down to the rest of the series.

Would you see IBM debut a 500HP 3 series before putting the larger motor in it's 5 or 7 series first? ABSOLUTELY NOT!

Thats whats so frustrating... look at the DDR2, PCIExpress, and VIDEO CARD in the iMac.

ALL 3 ARE BETTER/FASTER than Apple has in their TOP OF THE LINE PRO SERIES COSTING 3X AS MUCH! ITS A RIP

Actually guys, its pretty much accepted in the tech community that as far as hardware is concerned- apple is seriously lagging behind - even though you boast your 1.67 G4's (I have one too). Sure it seems fast and pretty snappy, but the software thats running doesnt require high hardware specs- you can even run tiger on macs generations older due to this simple fact. If you placed that same software (such as tiger) on a pentium -m or a p4 it runs circles around that same software running on a g4 or a g5. I cant speak for the new iMac - it does has some good upgrades moving on to DDR2 and such, but still, if you look around the web- heck if you even install osx on your x86 computer you'll know what im talking about. So it comes down to this: All mac software runs find and runs quite fast on current PPC chips, just because your not going to need a 4Ghz g5( if that even existed) to run the software. admit it- most of you guys are using safari and adium with maybe some photoshop with final cut pro. put that same software on a current intel chip and you will see why so many people care complaining about apple's PRO line. It used to be that you couldnt compare PC's to Macs in herently like comparing apples to oranges. But now with the OSX port to x86- and real world testing you CAN compare the 2 platforms. So dont give the people complaining a hard time about hardware updates- if you were smart you'd understand that apple hardware really IS lagging behind (except possibly the new iMac which i believe is crazy since now the iMac has better specs than a g5 powermac)\

PS also take into account that the PPC chips support alitvec and such which gives them an edge but still nothing compared to the performace the same software would be running on the other platform

I admit it
Im all about safari web serfing and aim woot little americas army but that runs fine on an ibook no reason to spend and extra thousand bucks.

These people who dont want to admit the computer they own is out of date are really funny you just cant accept that anything you buy from apple coul possibly be anything better than top of the line. Powerbooks arent crap so dont give the bull sh** they just arent nearly worth what you pay for them.

Okay so no one buy a Mac until the x86 Mactels are released. Got ya! Okay everyone you heard it here all Macs suck until the x86 switch is complete!

Why do you keep twisting everyones words to you it seems like powerbook overpriced equals power book sh** not fit to walk on. Or people may not want to pay a very high premium for an outdated machine is. Dont buy macs untill they all get updated to x86 your so melo dramatic.

:D

It's called trolling, thanks for falling for it hook line and sinker

Personally I couldn't care less if you think the Mac is a good value computer, I don't pay retail, I get all my Macs wholesale minus tax, so I think they're great value.

booooooooo i guess i am not buying a new mac soon :(

wrong get an imac theyre sweet
ibooks are good to even for the price a little slower than pc laptops but the ibook user probly doesnt need high power theyd do fine with ibook g'3s. Most of what I do on my ibook I could have used an older computer for without a problem and I love the osx its just pro's people who use computers for their livelyhood and are spending upwards of 5000 dollars for their machines should expect more.
