Is there a possibility that we will be able to order online before the 11th then? I'm planning on getting up at 3 am to order my iPad online because I don't want them to run out. If I don't have to do that, I will be so happy.

Possibility yes, but nobody here can confirm.

For me, I'll try to order at my normal 5am wakeup time unless they make it available earlier.

Maybe they will allow pre-orders before the 11th. It's not like anyone would object to this change.

The timing is off on this schedule, unless they actually want to encourage lines, which I suppose is possible considering it gets lots of press.

I really don't get it though.

We've heard of limited numbers.

I 100 percent believe they want all iPads being made up until this coming week to be allocated to the various physical outlets, so people can find them who found about it on the news and whatnot.

I believe they are taking online orders on the 11th because those don't have to be made yet, they can make them on the 12th, send them out, and have you start getting them the 14th or 15th.

I'm completely willing to wait 3-4 days for an iPad. Is that why everyone here on MacRumors is so anxious about the release date? Not getting it the day it comes out? I was just worried I wouldn't get mine for weeks or a month.

It's not about waiting the 3-4 days. It's about having fun when your waiting in line. Have you ever been to the launch of something before? The people usually there and the atmosphere that is created is awesome!

Do we know that Best Buy stores will have them in stock? Or will they just be available to order on their website starting on the 11th? The little ad on their site doesn't say much.

I'm glad it's in mid-March. Waiting in line in April-May in NY is sheer torture. Gawd, I hate NY heat/humidity.

I wouldn't even mind waiting in line in January for that matter.

really? There's no heat in NYC in April-May.

in stock, however, each store's stock will be different. We have 2 best buys within 10 miles from each other.. I already know one will have more in stock than the other, however, who is to say how many? It could be 10, 50, 73? You could call and ask Best Buy how many they plan on getting and determine if you want to hang out there in hopes of getting one but typically their inventory database at local stores is screwy. Another option is to buy online for pickup at a local store, but they may not allow that for the Ipad2.

Thanks for the response! Don't have a local Apple store and I'm thinking BB is my best chance at getting one next Friday.

I've never been to a launch, so that makes more sense now. I'd go if I didn't have school. I wish I could go!

I highly doubt there will be any lines or it being sold out.

people still have the first gen ipad and not looking to get the new one right away. also theres about 18 diff models of the ipad2! enough for everyone.

Only ones that are truly worried are the 1st time buyers. I'm trying to remember what time did Apple close down last year for the original iPad. I wanna say about 2 or 3PM.
