CarPlay No Siri Voice from CarPlay

Starting in iOS 18 (I think) if when using CarPlay and I say "Siri, what temperature is it?" CarPlay will display a weather banner but Siri will not voice the response. If I press and hold the phone button on my steering wheel and say the same thing, Siri will voice the responses. I was hoping that iOS 26 would fix this but it hasn't.

Does anyone now how to get CarPlay to voice a response if I don't use the steering wheel button?

I'm using an iPhone 16 Pro with iOS 26.0.
