I am sorry if this is already posted somewhere else, but I don't want Facebook integration in iOS 6. Just like I don't want the useless NewsStand app on iOS 5. I know that some people look forward to one or both of those features, I just wish that we could delete that content if we don't want it in iOS...
I don't want to jailbreak my iOS devices either.
I gave up on Facebook over a year ago and haven't regretted it one bit. However I know that some people also want it in iOS. So I am wondering why Apple just doesn't make it a 3rd party app and you can just download it later on if you want - need it?
I am fine with it being there as long as I can delete it but if it is anything like the NewsStand app (sorry for those of you who use it) I find it a waste of space on the Menu display and memory of the device.

Does anyone else not want Facebook?

Thats what happens when you guys praise apple so much. The limitation in CHOICE has always been apple's greatest downfall. Maybe you should think about switching over to an Android phone. you get a variety of handsets and a variety of ROMS should you CHOSE to root & flash.

It would be handy if you could turn Facebook integration on or off, hence if you use it, then it would be useful.

I know I don't have to use it... I just don't want it there. At. All.

I understand what you mean, I do think that people should have the option of disabling certain functionality but this is Apple we are talking about. If you want more control over your phone then you need to look at alternatives to iOS.

Sucks to be you.

I don't use twitter, so you know what I do? I don't use the twitter integration, it doesn't get in my way.

I imagine Facebook would be no different, deal with it.

Couldn't have put it better myself.

Pretty sure that I'm the customer...and I (being we the customer) are always right.

Pretty sure I and the hundreds of millions of people who use Facebook are customers as well and yes we want Facebook. Or did you think that only people who don't want Facebook are customers of Apple?

Besides, I don't think you understand how it works. You have to go into settings and MANUALLY TURN ON the integration. If you don't, there is no trace of Facebook other than it being one of the options when you choose to share something.

It's strange how some people talk so strongly about something without even understanding what they are talking about.

My God!!!

It's only integrated if you sign into Facebook in Settings and install it.

If you don't use Facebook, you won't have a log on, which means you'll ignore it in the setting tab, which means you never see a hint of Facebook or its integration.

How daft are some people that they cannot grasp this?

what a loser get a life bro lol damn some people need a life. get off this site if you dislike apple

I totally get that things don't revolve around me. However it is MY device and I don't want applications on it that I won't use or need.
Then don't install the Facebook App. It doesn't come preinstalled. Stop being ignorant and research how this stuff works.

I don't use Facebook.

Nor do I want to see it's breadcrumbs on an Apple product.

WWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAA

I'm so sick of the "This product must be tailored to my quirks and my quirks only" complaints here...

If you don't want to use it, don't use it....It isn't that evident if you don't use it. And TENS OF MILLIONS of people want this and will use it.

Deal...

It's fascinating to express ones thoughts & opinions, those who are emotionally attached to praising Apple can get rather testy. Hmmm...

Tell me about it... I express an opinion or preference and people tell me that I should be euthanized or call me an idiot or whatever. I sincerely did not mean to upset so many people with this, I just was wondering if anyone else did not want Facebook or NewsStand apps preinstalled.
I now know that the Facebook app will not be preinstalled so thank you to the person who set me straight on that. I was not aware of that.
But to call someone an idiot or other derogatory names simply because that person is expressing an opinion, or was misunderstood on the information that was given... I feel sorry for you... I hope that you feel better about yourselves now.

It's not that you were sharing your opinion. It's HOW you were sharing your opinion. We get it, some people don't like facebook. But you came into your thread acting like a spoiled little kid that didn't get what they wanted for christmas (best analogy I could come up with). Sorry, it's just how it is around here.

you'll only have to deal with facebook for another 3-5 years anyway. every day more people stop using it. eventually it will go the way of myspace.

I definitely wish the service integration on iOS 6 was more modular than it currently is.

I would also prefer to remove Twitter & Facebook from my device.
It would be nice if you could also add custom services, or other services could write plugins that fit into the new sharing menu. Maybe instead of Facebook/Twitter, I would want a Flickr option for my photos, Vimeo for my videos, App.net for your social messages etc.

iOS 6 definitely seems to be a bit of a trade-off compared with most OS upgrades.

You gain better performance, an updated Safari, Mail improvements, better Privacy controls etc.
But you lose the Apple YouTube app, Google Maps, and have to put up with Facebook/Twitter everywhere in the OS.

How do you know that? Facebook is boasting nearly 1B users.

Anyway OP, i agree that if you choose not to integrate with Facebook and Twitter then you should never see a spec of those in the OS. Why would you have a share option that says "post on Facebook" when you never even activated it?

I have a friend who teaches a requisite social media marketing to business majors at a prestigious NYC college. According to her, her entire class is apathetic, borderline anti on social media on the whole. People are getting over it, like they did with Friendster, Myspace, Ping, and ICQ, Geocities, etc. before that. It's a fickle crowd, the web.

I personally know a lot of people who either have zero interest in Facebook, or are totally sick of dealing with it.

Pretty sure that I'm the customer...and I (being we the customer) are always right.

I'm also confused by this reply. What does it have to do with the incorporation of the function? You cannot demand Apple to not allow it on iOS simply because you don't want it. Just don't use it. I know it's been said many times, but you don't seem to be getting it.

It is an option

It's the same as twitter integration in ios 5 yes?? If you don't run the login credentials thru settings, then you can just use the app.

Simple really.

Facebook & twitter icons still popup around the os regardless if you use it or not actually. I don't use either services but if you press the bottom left icon on a photo it does show options to share on facebook or twitter. I don't like this and it shouldn't be there if you haven't signed into these services in the settings.
