Nomad Launches Apple TV Remote Cover With Hidden AirTag Pocket

Apple accessory company Nomad today announced the launch of its latest product, the Leather Cover for Siri Remote. Nomad designed the Leather Cover to accommodate an AirTag, adding Find My tracking capabilities to the Siri Remote.

Priced at $40, the Leather Cover is made from dark brown Horween leather and it fits snugly around the remote. At the back, there is a little pocket where an AirTag can be tucked inside, and then a flap hides it away for a more streamlined look.

There were rumors that the latest Apple TV Remote might feature Find My integration, but when the device launched, there was no sign of the tracking feature. Instead, it works like every other Apple TV remote and has no special feature for locating it should it become lost.

With the addition of an AirTag, the Apple TV Remote can be located in the Find My app right alongside your other devices. The Leather Cover for Siri Remote can be purchased today from the Nomad website.

Still can't believe Apple didn't decide to include this functionality right out of the box. I have a toddler and thus lose my remote daily. Don't see myself buying this but would definitely love to see it incorporated into future releases.

Or, 3D print your own in any color you want! Including glow in the dark (like me). Pretty sure you can commission this from a friend or an online service on the cheap if you don't have a printer.

this could be said about anything people lose. if this mindset worked flawlessly, AirTags, tile, etc. would have no need to exist

Every time I lose the remote I curse Apple for this being the one Apple device that does not work with Find My. I lose my remote a hell of a lot more than anything else.

Am I remembering wrong or did they not announce AirTag at the same event as the new Apple TV.

Kind of like announcing an iPad with USB C alongside an iPhone with the exact same SoC but Lightning.

Just because it doesn’t serve a purpose to you, doesn’t mean people in different circumstances are absurd for wanting/needing it. People with memory issues for example. Families with young children. The only absurd thing is your comment.

I bought a $9 silicone version from amazon that does the same thing. My son constantly manages to lose the remote so it has come in quite handy. I wish the remote just had this feature built-in.

Agree for the remote, but isn’t it already baked into the AirPods 3? My AirPods Pro have it, I’m pretty sure.

I'm not sure the word "hidden" should be in the title. That would imply at least the tiniest amount of surprise at finding out that the case also held an AirTag. But the case is like two to three times as thick as the remote. Upon seeing this on, say, someone's coffee table, my very first reaction would be, "why is this three times as thick as the remote? What's going on?"
