Nomad today announced the launch of a unique cable that isn't quite like anything else on the market. The Universal Cable for Apple Watch includes a built-in Apple Watch fast charging puck along with two USB-C connectors.

Priced at $100, the 1.5 meter cable is able to charge an Apple Watch and another device like an iPhone or iPad at the same time. It is a 100W USB-C PD cable, so it provides a small amount of power (8W) for the Apple Watch with the rest (92W) distributed to the other device that's plugged in. 100W is enough to charge even Apple's 16-inch MacBook Pro, as long as you have an appropriate power adapter.

The Apple Watch end of the cable can be plugged in at a power adapter or it can be used for device charging, so there are two layout options to choose from. Apple's most recent AirPods can charge from an Apple Watch charger, which adds more versatility. Note that transfer speeds are limited to USB 2 because the cable is designed for charging rather than data transfer.

The cable has a double-braided Kevlar outer weave and it uses electroplated metal connectors for durability. There's also an integrated silicone cable tie to keep the cable neat even when traveling.

The Universal Cable for Apple Watch can be purchased from the Nomad website for $100.

while I like the idea - the price is, hmm, not only steep ... it's insane.

Does anyone actually buy Nomad stuff? See it here all the time and it’s basically Anker/Ugreen quality but 3x the price.
Same as Belkin products. Way overpriced compared to others.

In for one.. travel a fair bit internationally and have juggled so many different options. For a while I thought I just HAD to have standby mode so my travel gear was based on that. No more.. it'll be this, a 66W GaN and the appropriate country adapter. Thanks Nomad! *Helped that I had a 30% off!

I'm with Archie. While the price is kind of high, this is a unique cord that makes travel quite a bit easier, and one less thing to carry. I won't be replacing all of my chargers with it, but for travel, this is well worth the price to me.

I’ve thought it would be useful if there was a watch charger that had a pass through usb c port on it. This is the closest I’ve seen that idea come to fruition. I’d like to see a watch charging puck independent of a cable. I bought a MagSafe(Qi2) one, that I like but it’s not the best build quality. I appreciate Nomad for thinking outside the box, even if their kit is too $$$ for most.

Not when you can get something like this which is much more useful and still compact:

I thought the same.. have that, have the Anker version of that. Too bulky. Still need cable and charger.

This needs a cable and I use a small 66W GaN charger.. simple as that.

1%'er product.

But these two on Amazon for $33 and you get essentially the same thing. I have this Anker charger and it's legit.
Cable
Charger

I like the minimalist design and ability to charge an Apple Watch and another USB C device. The charging cord would be great for people who line to travel lite. $100.00 seems pricy but from the description it seems to be a high quality cable. I almost want to purchase one but will not. 😂

That is a nice stand & I can see the appeal for someone, especially if you are looking to save a few $$$. But you still have to pack a cable in addition to that stand. With the Nomad one, all you need is the cable. For one bag travel, it's nice to squeeze out whatever extra stuff you can.

But that is a nice stand & I can see why some people would rather save the $30 and get that.

Exactly!

I've (finally) learned to minimize everything.. one cable one charger in my carry on backpack. I will have a second setup in my carryon roller bag. Never need to think about it.. serves as a spare or if I take my MBP along, it handles it

It's a niche product that nobody strictly needs, so development and production costs are split among very few buyers, which makes the price high, which make buyers diminish, which makes the price even higher.
I guess.
