Nomad Rugged MagSafe case left this ring on my phone

When I bought the Max, I wanted the best camera (photographer, but none of these phone's cameras come close to a dSLR so that's a whole different discussion), biggest battery and biggest display. After using it since launch, my feeling is that it is just too big and too heavy of a phone to fit my needs. I got the Pro last week and instantly knew it was the phone for me. Not too big or too heavy for the pockets and just the right size. I love this thing.
I tried giving the 12PM to my wife, but she wants no part of it. She has the XS Max, and is totally happy with it. So now I have me happy with the Pro, her happy with the XS Max and the 12PM is not being used.
Lesson learned, I guess. Sometimes the biggest and arguably the best just isn't the right fit for you.
Sell it on swappa. Good site. Legit. I sold a MacBook on there. Sell with case.
Ok, now this is odd. I use a Qi charger always. I took the case off to use the phone without a case, and there was the ring. The case was only on the phone since late last night. It did wipe off, but if this case is going to be leaving a ring on the phone even without the use of a MagSafe charger, this one will be thrown in the drawer with the others that I don’t use.
Yes, that could be a problem. Wait, how could the microfiber suede lining create a dust imprint of the ring? Interesting? That's not a good sign for the limitless 4.0, which replaces their microfiber lining with otterbox like tpu material with the magsafe ring and several different patterns. If you end up using the Nomad as your daily driver, I would clean that at least once a week. I was always concerned about the ring in the lining.
I don’t know how that ended up happening. Maybe the magnet on the case is fairly strong? But strong enough to cause that to happen? I don’t know. It wiped off this time easily. If it happens again, which I’m betting it will, I’ll stop using their case. I wish they still had the cases without MagSafe to buy.

A lot of people aren’t keen on the sides not being leather but I actually quite like that about it. I wasn’t sure at first but this case cos quickly becoming my favourite.
Nope. The ring was only on the phone itself. Case still looks perfect.
I’m rambling, but this is just annoying. I put the case on the phone. Did not put it on any charger. I took it off after just four hours and sure enough, that ring is back on the phone in that short amount of time. Disappointed in this case. It went from one of my favorites to one I won’t use anymore because of that. /rant
You have some photos of the ring? I’m using Nomad MagSafe cases (brown, black) and don’t have that.

I love the look of their brown cases. It's a shame this case I have isn't going to work out for me. Not when this happens to the phone. Here is a picture of what my phone looked like after four hours with the case on it. Again, I did not have this phone on any charger, corded or wireless.

@Robbosan I texted them about this and was told to refer to their returns policy (rather arrogantly) which basically states the item you are returning is in new condition and can be resold. I responded how can I know this will happen beforehand without using the case? I could already see the leather darkening in spots just from handling it. I asked for a refund. I don't care if I have to return it, it's not usable the way it is and with what it does to the phone. I'd hate to see what a MagSafe charger would do to the phone with this case on it. I'm now still waiting for a response from them.

It did rub off this time, but I’m not going to keep using the case. I wonder if it would continue to do so after continuous daily use. I think it would be even worse if a MagSafe charger were being used with this case.
That’s the downside to third party. Proprietary accessories are great... but Apple tax is steep. I personally have switched from the nomad to the apple leather case with MagSafe. It just *works better* if that makes sense? The wallet stays better attached and I feel I have a more stable, sturdy MagSafe connection between the two. I miss the look and feel of the horween leather, but I take my losses.
I’ve seen a lot of posts in favor of the Apple leather cases lately, especially the black one. I tried them a while back, but always seemed to have issues with the fit. Maybe it’s time I try another one and see how it goes.
One thing that is for sure is that I won’t be using anything by Nomad again. I was so happy with the look, fit and feel of that case until I took it off the phone to take some pictures of it. I’m glad I noticed it sooner rather than later.
Which is sad... because nomad has always made amazing products. Have you reached out to them? I’ve heard great things about their customer service? Fair warning. Apple released a warning about the MagSafe charger leaving a ring imprint on the back of the leather cases. I know it’s supposed to age and show wear... but something to consider. I use the wallet frequently so if mine starts, it won’t be noticeable anyway. I love the black one. Won’t buy another brown or tan one though
