Unfortunately it's not as simple as that. Not all gamepads are MFI. Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 controllers for example aren't.

Some older games are only compatible with MFI controllers, and won't work with the above newer controllers.

Some games will only worth with bluetooth controllers but won't work with something wired like the Backbone controller.

That's how you can get a game like KOTOR 1 which only works with older MFI controllers, and a game like KOTOR 2 that only works with newer controllers.

Bit of a mess, really.

  • you're always going to be paying the highest prices for games because the Apple app stores don't really get any sales and everything is permanently priced as if new, even if the game is 10 years old

This bullet point isn't accurate. Pricing has nothing to do with Apple, developers set the price (am developer). Lots of game ago on sale too. Square Enix puts sales on their games as does Capcom all the time.

In my experience the App Store gets sales less frequently on non-mobile games than Steam or other stores. Yes the developers set the price, not Apple, but I've seen it pointed out many times that a certain game will be on sale on all the other platforms except on Apple - presumably because the dev couldn't be bothered.
