I'm hoping to get a custom configuration (i7 / SSD), but without having to order it online. Just go down to the Apple Store, buy it and take it home. Does anyone know if these "custom" configs are available in store?

When I bought my current iMac (2010 27" i7) seven years ago, my local Apple Store had that custom-build i7 configuration in stock.

    Thanks.

I've been to two different local Apple stores looking for the same thing, and neither have them. They both just have the "stock" i5 configurations. I also purchased a souped up 2012 i7 iMac in one of these stores, but for now they don't seem to have them at the stores.

Sometimes they do. Call your local store and they can look up exactly what configs are in stock. Last time I called mine they didn't, the time before they did.
