I reserved both with a new number and phony SSNS info. I'm on prepaid now and would rather keep it that way but can start a contract if they give me no option.

I don't see any logical reason for them not allowing me to pay full price. Unless this is a tactic to repel scalpers.

How did this go?

I'm just wondering if the device-only purchase worked for you.

I went to Crabtree last night (got there about 20 minutes before closing).

I was buying some cables and asked the guy if I could also get a device only 6+.
There was no one in line outside and only about 5-6 people going through the phone setup and checkout process (basically the store was pretty empty even compared to a non "iPhone just came out recently" day).

The guy says that if I order online for personal pickup, then I can do that. I told him you can't do online reservations if you're paying full retail and don't want a contract. He said "You can't?"

I said I don't want a contract, just to pay full price for the device. Then he goes on about how they give out reservation cards to people in line during the day and that they stopped handing out the cards five hours ago because there were so many people.

"But there's no one waiting now", I said. "I just want to purchase a phone full price".

Nope, sorry. Wouldn't do it. He said I could come back tomorrow morning at 9AM when they hand out the reservation cards and then come back anytime during the day to get it (and also wait in line).

"But I'm here now and there's no one waiting", I told him. It's not like I was cutting in line and trying to weasel the system. There's no one else waiting for a phone and there is stock of the one I want.

Nope. No dice. Infuriating. And to top it off, this guy was the manager.

Hmm, that's just plain lame...

If a manager isn't that lenient, I don't see how we will be able to purchase a device-only 6+ with online pickup, as they do require certain overrides by the managers...

I don't see how you can do device-only w/online pickup right now. You can't even do online pickup with an AT&T Next or Verizon Edge plan; you can only do online pickup if you're adding a line with a 2-year contract.

I already have a 6; I just wanted to try a 6+ before the two weeks was up on my 6. But to have to drive back down again (and wait in line some more) or even have to come back later in the day (and make a 3rd trip??), forget it.

Why is it so difficult for Apple to take my money!

Anybody went to Southpark or Northlake to purchase in store?
I am seeing pluses coming in during certain time and was wondering if anyone able to score in store B&M.
I also called best buy at rivergate and they said they receive shipments everyday from apple store.
If you have experiences on either places, please share them for all.
I forgot to mention, the reason why I am asking this is because I want to buy the product outright not with the contract and what not.

Picked a Verizon gold 128GB 6+ from Friendly Center yesterday using personal pickup. A space gray 128GB is showing in stock for Verizon at Crabtree right now.

Big update just went out for Crabtree. ATT/Verizon 6+'s, SG/128GB, rare sightings.

That went quick...tried to grab it, was gone in under a minute. Bummer.

Was at Southpoint today in the morning, arrived at around 9:40AM.

About 15 people in front of me in line.

Was able to score a AT&T 128GB Space Grey 6+.

It's unlocked as I bought device only... working on t-mobile!

Just went down for the heck of it and came out with a 6+ SG 128GB!

:D

How long did you have to wait in line?

i waited in line for 2 hours last thursday at Southpoint to exchange a 16gb for a 64. I was 5th in line. Was not pleased, but glad to finally be done with the drama.

I wonder if they are getting shipments today cause I haven't seen any in istock and they are wiped out now.

Haven't seen much new stock at Crabtree or Southpoint since the 30th (well, online anyway. Walk-ins might be a different story).

I can't believe they are stockless again. That must have been a huge shipment that they got in because there were a ton of people getting 6+'s from crabtree with me on Monday. I thought since they had so much stock that we would start seeing more 6+'s.
