The way to unify the UI across devices is to merge the Music and Videos apps on the iPod touch and iPad, not split the iPod app on the iPhone. Dumb move.

The other reason they split it is due to iTunes in the Cloud, since it's music only, it's easier to split music and video into their own apps.

personally i like it as it suits me better, but that's my opinion

Excuse drudging up a dead thread but I didn't feel that it was worth making a new one.

Would someone be so kind as to upload the iOS 5 music icon for the 3Gs? :D I'm intending on switching my iPod icon to the music one on my 4.3.3 3Gs via SSH but I can't find the icon anywhere.

EDIT: I can work with the Retina icon.

Really not that bothered about icons, so long as the functionality remains out of the box, so to speak.

I don't like it because I'm trying to reduce clutter not create more. I think it might be cool if they integrated iTunes into iPod app as well

I'd rather have the iPod app.

If there is ANYTHING that iOS doesn't need, it's more icons...

It should be optional, in my opinion. I personally prefer having the iPod icon, merely because I enjoy being able to go to one place for all of my media. I'll likely place the music icon where the iPod icon is on the iPhone.

The decision to do this just seems odd. They initially grouped it all together in with the iPod icon for the very reason of having a lot of things in one place, and now they're essentially reversing their decision.

They're lining up with iPod touches and iPads by having video seperate than music plus having music seperate is easier for iTunes in the cloud which is music only. Personally I prefer seperate apps as I can put video in my video apps folder and music in my music apps folder. Much better.

Then why does the iPad still not have a clock app, stocks, weather, etc?

What the heck:confused: Wow I never knew that, that is so weird/ridiculous :s

Anyway, I sorta agree but it doesn't really make sense in truth to have the iPod application as mentioned by a few already. The main thing I care about is that the iPod icon looks a lot better, so I'll probably swap it for the music one anyway after a jailbreak ;)
