I'm proud to be un-American then.I usually ask the girls if they're being fairly compensated for their time and effort in pushing over priced cookies. The usual answer is they get nothing!
A bunch of rich bastards exploiting our youths.
Fye on it, ah fye!, I say. I refuse to buy Girl Scout Cookies. I slip them a buck. I make sure they understand that buck is for THEM not their greedy taskmasters.
All of the proceedsevery pennyfrom a local council's cookie activities remains in the area where the cookies are sold. This revenue is used to benefit girls, some of it directly by remaining in the Girl Scout troop/group treasury and some of it indirectly by subsidizing the cost of providing the Girl Scout program in the local area.
"Cookie revenue" helps local councils:
Recruit and train volunteer leaders for each troop/group.
Provide the financial assistance needed to make Girl Scouting available for all girls.
Improve and maintain camp and other activity sites.
Keep event/camp fees for all members to a minimum.
Sponsor special events and projects.
Each local council sets the price per box, based on its needs and its knowledge of its local market. The price per box, therefore, may vary from one location to another and from one year to the next. Today's prices reflect both the current cost of purchasing cookies from a licensed baker and the realities of providing Girl Scout activities in an ever-changing economic environment.
Not buying doesn't make you look cheap. When I do say no, I usually tell them I already bought some, which is the truth. I currently have about 6 boxes of Girl Scout cookies at home. Love the Thin Mints.![]()
this might seem sort of obivious, but
can you not answer the door?
I never answer the door for anyone unless I know them. No point in coming to my dwelling for any other reason.

best excuses is say you already bought some.
Thin mints and shortbread FTW.
I only buy like a box a year cause I don't really care for cookies other than homemade, but those a nice annual treat.
We don't have girl scout cookies here. They sound yummy.
They are also expensive! You buy them to help the Girl Scouts, not your grocery budget.
Or your waist line.
Little girls knocking on my door. Who wouldn't want that.![]()
Order one of these lovely T-shirts...I'm pretty sure the girls won't be back next year:
