mine says $549 2 year contract in small letters, parents account say $749 with 2 year contract, it will extend your contract don't fall for it. Just get T-Mobile full price, and if thats locked send it back within 14 days, then go to apple store and pay full price. done.

Come on folks.

Buying a phone at full price does not mean any contract. You can put that phone in the drawer if you want.

Wow.

We all understand that this is the usual situation. The reason we don't know for sure is because of the wording on the Apple website.

If not unlocked, send it back, and then what? Wait a few weeks to buy one in a store? We want to know the best possible solution so we don't get stuck without a phone.

I agree, its all confusing, i haven't sold my 5 yet have it as backup.

I don't see why they would say no contract required in this situation (full price phone) if it wasn't true. The text at the bottom seems like kind of a general rule for both next and people using regular upgrades.

Sorry, replied to wrong post

Always a lot of confusion around this. :(

In my chat with Apple today I was told that there was no way to pre-order an AT&T iPhone without Next or a 2 year contract. Like many, I'm interested in a full price phone with no strings attached.

I had the same issue with Verizon last year. I paid full price for a 5s and they screwed up the upgrade date (gave me 1/2015 and not earlier). I called this week and said 'I paid full price for that phone, please fix' and it was corrected in five minutes.

I assume as long as they can see you paid a non-subsidized price, they (whoever) will fix the upgrade date later.

Here's a screenshot of my apple app order page when I configured a 6+. If I tap the 2 year contract option, it expands to say that no contract extension is required at the full price (at least that how it appears to me)View attachment 490231

That makes no sense to me. You selected "2 year contract" only to be told "no contract extension required" but with fine print about requiring a two-year agreement.

Wow, I feel so stupid now. Where it says "Both options require a two-year contract." its talking about the prices it shows at the other 2 dates. We won't be required to extend our contracts.

Ah yes, you're right! It's referring to the 1-year and 2-year subsidies above.

However it's still concerning that Apple reps keep saying you won't be able to preorder without a 2-year extension.

How can you order full price at all? I don't see an option. I asked via their online chat, waited for a long time, and they said they didn't have that information available. Real useful.

The only way you can order full price is if you're currently on a contract and don't have an upgrade (or early upgrade for AT&T) available. You out in your number, zip, last 4 of social and it changes the price to the full price and then you can check out.

I talked to 2 apple reps who were absolutely clueless. They're hired for these launches because most of the questions they answer are things like "when does ios8 come out?" I think that even if for some reason you do end up with a contract after paying full price, you should be able to contact AT&T and have them undo it if you prove that you paid full price.

Good luck with having AT&T fixing your date. been calling them many times and they said they can't change the date. The system won't let them.

I called Apple and talked with 2 reps and chatted with 4 reps through Apple.com and all stated you can't preorder a phone off contract or with Edge, Easy pay etc. The pre orders are only for customers whom are eligible with their carrier.

Yep..they told me the same thing. Only for customers who are eligible for upgrades with their carriers. So mad because I wanted to pay full price for my phone throught apple.com. Now I will have to go on Sprint to pay for the phone.
