I have a 64GB iPhone 6S Plus. The perfect capacity for me really. Last year it was 699. But as this was never an option this year I was happy to go up to 128GB.

But dam, the prices suck. My options are that I spend 20 more than last year for half the capacity or spend OVER ONE HUNDRED (!!!) (and keeping in mind how cheap memory is now) for over double that I do not really need.

I guess I will have to fall into Apples hands and spend the extra 100 because 32GB isn't enough :(

You also have the option of keeping your perfect capacity 6S Plus and saving a bundle.

Wow pricing in the UK has always been terrible, but after this... I'm shocked. I can't believe we're having to fork out over £100 in excess, when in reality the change from brexit and the falling sterling has only been around £50 or so.

Go do the math, it's not a £50 change, the GBP has lost around 15% this year. Apple's price increase is around 13% so the blame can be squarely laid with Brexit.

It is the worst performing currency in the world this year.

This is ridiculous, glad I bought my iPad Pro 9.7 back in March and bought a Samsung S7 last month, goodbye iPhone. :(

I am in the same boat as many of you iPhone 6S plus 64gig very happy with storage level. I saw one other post about this but want to know your thoughts:

I will be heading to America on the 23rd for a Holiday so buying in America is a possiblilty for me.

Prices in the UK

- iPhone 7 Plus 128gig = £819
- iPhone 7 Plus 256gig = £919

Prices in the US

- iPhone 7 Plus 128gig = $869 (£650 ish)
- iPhone 7 Plus 256gig = $969 (£725 ish)

I know there is state tax in this America but will be in New York so I believe its 4% which puts the US iPhone up to:

- 128gig to $903 (£675 ish)
- 256gig to $1007 (£753 ish)

Seems like a better deal as it is the same phone and will unlocked to any network around the world. The downside is it ships with a US plug and therefore the box will have a US plug cut out instead of a UK one, therefore this may effect the possible resale value in the UK come iPhone 7S time next year (yes i buy each phone every year and sell on and put against the new phone).

Would buying a phone in the UK with a US charger (obviously I would supply a UK plug with the sale) stop some people buying it??

Other than the resale is there any other disadvantages of doing this? Does the UK's consumer law work if the product was bought outside the UK? I assume not??

Thanks for any help or opinions

Chris

Me before the keynote: I'm gonna get the 7 Plus 128GB, should be around £699 right?

Me after the keynote: I'm going to have to sell my soul for this. £819.

Eight hundred and nineteen pounds.

The main problem with this would be the warranty, Apple in the UK will not touch anything from outside these shores I believe.

Cheapest iPhone 7:
US: 649
EURO: 759 Euros which equals about 855 Dollars...

What gives? I know you have to add state vat but that doesn't account for this huge difference.

They're expensive but hey, nobody's forcing you to buy the product. You don't like the price, don't buy it. No dramas.

just echoing your thoughts on this ; £699 is the figure we know so well however £819 feels like :apple: is asking for a grand:(

I was similar... Was like yeah, I have this much in savings specifically for a new Plus and Watch and now I have to find another £300 from somewhere else.... How much does a kidney sell for on the black market?

Maybe I won't bother this year, nice phone but my 6s will do for another year...

(first time in 6 years I haven't immediately decided I'm going to buy the new release)

The prices are too steep this time around which is why I am going to use the upgrade program. But i agree with previous comments. Their greed for money will be their downfall.

If you buy a UK charger then you will be fine, I dare say you could even use your current one. You only need to change the plug end, Apple even sell an international plug boxset for iOS devices where you only need to buy the plug end.

Apple will fix anything anywhere in the world but his warranty will go by USA warranty rules and not UK rules. So long as it's still in warranty then it doesn't matter where he is now located.

That isn't the full story, and while anecdotally it's fairly easy to get service in other countries the official policy is as follows:

Apple reserves the right to change the method by which Apple may provide warranty service to you, and your Apple Product’s eligibility to receive a particular method of service. Service will be limited to the options available in the country where service is requested. Service options, parts availability and response times may vary according to country. You may be responsible for shipping and handling charges if the Apple Product cannot be serviced in the country it is in. If you seek service in a country that is not the original country of purchase, you will comply with all applicable import and export laws and regulations and be responsible for all custom duties, V.A.T. and other associated taxes and charges.

So, to be sure of Apple service in the U.K. on a US iPhone you can be asked to show you have paid U.K. vat and duty on the imported handset.

I'm not sure there are any savings to be had on the upgrade program. You are looking at £55-60 a month for a iPhone 4.7 128gb once you've factored in your carrier plan! Then there's the upfront fee.
