Let’s be real, they got some gross habits. I’ve had my case since launch and it is not anywhere close to messed up like that. I agree it’s not a great case, the leather was better, but they need to wash their hands.

Yeah. but it certainly isn’t like a fine wine as one user has suggested.

If you don’t want leather, silicone or plastic what are the options? I have one and really like it. It may not hold up based on everything that’s posted, but I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it.

That's what happens when you try to invent dodgy ass material to replace actual high quality leather only to appeal to some cabbages who get triggered by leather
For all that Finewoven cases are likely garbage (I haven’t bought one, just based on customer reviews and the fact that they’re overpriced plastic), I would not call Apple’s “leather” cases examples of quality, either. Possibly not even examples of leather! A few years ago, the casing was real leather and aged nicely. But the most recent iterations looked and felt more like plastic. I have no idea what they changed in their manufacturing design for the cases, but it probably reduced the cost of materials…
I’ll only buy third party actual leather cases now.
And to all of the people who believe ‘vegan leather’ (ridiculous, call it plastic-polyurethane-petroleum-acrylates!) is better in any way, shape, or form, just remember that plastic and microplastics, which ALL unnatural not-occuring-in-nature-made-from-petrochemical products shed, have now invaded every part of the natural world’s ecosystems. We don’t even know all of the negative effects which WILL be experienced yet by these substances effects on animal life (including humans).

Yeah well there is the transparant case of course, but a wider range of colored plastic cases (recycled of course) would make sense. A silicone case already has such plastic case on the inside, as you will find out after a couple of months of use 😉
FYI, so-called ‘recycled’ plastics are another lie spread by petrochemical industry lobbyists to keep people complacent about the continued use of (and manufacturing of) plastics. Almost ALL of consumer items which use recycled plastic, use less than 10-15%, if even that much. It is MORE expensive than NEWLY produced plastic, has impurities which cannot be corrected for, does not take color or manipulation as well as ‘new’ plastics…and producers prefer newly made materials.

95% of plastics produced go into our oceans, landfills (and then to our oceans and rivers via runoff of microplastics and plastics), and into our own bodies and those of every other living creature on the planet. Plastics are by and large NOT recycled. They are garbage which will last nearly as long as nuclear materials, readily polluting the planet and our own bodies.

Should have went with mushroom leather if they wanted to go sustainable. How come they didn't contact MycoWorks & Bolt Threads? These companies in SF! You get the leather look and feel but also sustainable. Even Hermes uses it. Kinda like a no brainer since they're also partnered with Hermes.
‘Mushroom leather’ and other so-called alternatives are STILL made using plastics! They are not at all as eco-friendly as you have been led to believe. Look at their actual process explantions (if you can find any, and you’ll have to search) - they’re still something like 30-40% plastic.
