It would be hard for me to use the new iPad more than my previous one, because I used the gen 2 every day - in fact I have rarely been without my iPad since buying gen 1.

I would say I use the new one just as often, and enjoy it more because of the new features. But I agree that there's really no need to buy every new version, and not realistic to expect a huge wow factor annually. I did buy each new iPad so far, because I use it lot, but I also consider it a splurge to do so, not a necessity.

Exactly. Given my usage it's not physically possible to use the new more than the 2!

And I came to the same conclusion - given my usage the upgrade was a no brainer but for most sticking with the iPad 2 is completely fine.

I upgraded for no other reason that i just HAVE to have the latest one. I did sell my iPAd2 in time to get enough $$ back to make the upgrade very reasonable...but if I was not such a gadget-dork....I would never have upgraded.

The jump from the 2 to the 3 isn't worth the hassle and the $$. The camera def gets more use, but I NEVER used the 2's camera as it was worthless.

Although the retina is not the god's greatest gift to eyes since Ms.Kunis....it def makes reading much easier and painless. When I try and go back to use a 2, its definitely noticeable. I use the iPad as much to read than I do anything else, and thats where the difference lies.

If you have a first gen....DEF upgrade, if you have 2...its not worth it. IM(not so)HO

I think this is how most people (who are honest with themselves) feel. I'm in exactly the same boat as you. Always upgrade regardless of the leap, but when I do I'm honest about it. It's like the upgrade from iPhone 4 to 4s. I wasn't amazed by any strech, I don't use Siri and hardly use the camera as I use my DSLR when I'm intending to take photos. So the upgrade seemed a little lame. However having said that, I have since used my missus iPhone 4 I've realised that it is quite a bit quicker and I get frustrated with hers now, so it's not all bad! :)

I notice the weight difference more than the dimensions.

+1

I still use all Three of the iPad Generations. Going from the iPad 3 to the 2 makes the 2 feel like I could flip it in the air and twirl it on my pinky finger. lol the weight difference is very noticeable.

To me the screen is a MASSIVE upgrade, not only the resolution but the color is much more vivid. Honestly it's the best looking screen I have ever seen.

What's with all the posts about returning it?

I like the Ipad..I'm hardly going to go back to no Ipad or an old model now. I'm just saying as an upgrade it was very small.

I'm just giving an honest opinion. I bet very few here use the camera ect. anyway.

well, i definitely been using it much more than my ipad 2 indeed. the screen its amazing to surf the web and read. at first i didnt feel a hell of a difference, but after two weeks using the new ipad, i grabed the ipad 2 yesterday and damm what a change. could never go back now

Wirelessly posted

I'm using my iPad 3 like 10x more than my iPad 1. The screen looks so good I just want to use more. #truestory

I think the screen itself was the upgrade. If you want small upgrade, see the galaxy tab 2 vs galaxy tab. Now THAT was small.

Congrats dude... Its seems you are one the idiots who buy every new update to iPhone and iPad and expect it to be a huge update...

You are just wasting your money like an idiot.

I have my iPhone 4 and iPad 1 and they work just the same as your new 4S and iPad 3...

I dont understand people who buy every update like brainless Apple fans.

iPad 3 & 4s were 2 completely useless upgrades. I feel bad for anyone who bothered to update from ipad2 of iPhone 4.

Update every other Cycle.

I don't have any issue with folks buyin every gen of any product. I know peeps that buy every flippin' gen of golf club too. What I do have a problem with is the peeps that do so and then come to places like this to whine and piss about how disappointed they are.

I personally think that if you have the expendable income and with the secondary market for Apple products being what it is...that you can actually pull off the refresh every generation fairly easily. Will it cost you a few Benjamins here and there? Yep...but if having the absolutely latest gadget or gizmo is what lists your boat...who am I to interfere? Just please...please...please don't come here and pout about each iteration not being some earth shattering improvement upon the one before it...

I went from an iPhone 4 to a 4S and I quite appreciate then better camera and bump in overall speed... No need to feel sorry for me as I wasn't expecting anything more. To each his own I'd say...

I don't like talking to the device same with Siri.[COLOR="#808080"
So, you don't like talking to a device?

Yet you listed the lack of Siri as one of the reasons the new iPad was a "dull update".
So sadly I have to say if you are thinking of upgrading be prepared to be dissapointed. Theres so much better but lack of Siri, longer battery, same weight and size as the IPad 2 makes it a dull update".

So ...
